One of our residents, an experienced art educator, recently led another engaging session of “Conversations with Art.” This popular program invites residents to explore and discuss influential figures and works in the art world.
This session featured Berthe Weill—often called Mother Weill—whose pioneering gallery helped launch the careers of several major modern artists. As always, the conversation sparked thoughtful insights and lively discussion.

In a recent lecture series, Brian Lauritzen, esteemed host and producer from Classical KUSC, provided an insightful overview of the Great American Songbook. His presentation highlighted three influential American composers of the early 20th century, whose work significantly shaped the landscape of American music. These composers' compositions have since become integral to Hollywood films, Broadway productions, and, ultimately, the Great American Songbook itself.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Brian for delivering such an informative and captivating series.

Alvin Ailey Arts in Education & Community facilitated an Active Aging Movement Class at Villa Gardens, a dynamic and engaging session tailored for older adults of varying abilities. The class was designed to be invigorating, emphasizing physical awareness while nurturing artistic exploration.

We are delighted to announce the successful culmination of our 6-week Strength & Bone Density Small Group training program. Over the six weeks, with sessions held twice weekly, participants exhibited exceptional dedication and progress. Front Porch’s Center for Innovation and Well-Being (FPCIW) presented a Virtual Reality program for residents. This workshop was presented by Doctoral Occupational Therapy student Samantha Torres, who was an intern at FPCIW. She conducted empathy-training workshops for residents at Villa Gardens using the technology.

The program allows participants to experience what it might feel like to live with an illness such as macular degeneration or dementia. This innovative approach helps foster empathy among diverse groups. This is the same training that many of our team members have received.

Thank you to Embodied Labs and USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy for partnering with us for this forward-thinking workshop.

The 2026 Film Independent Awards were truly memorable!

"Familiar Touch," filmed at Villa Gardens with the active participation of our residents both on and off-screen, received two nominations, including Best Lead Performance.
