Many of my patients tell me meditation feels overwhelming or “just doesn’t work” for them. And that is okay! There are so many other highly effective options out there to choose from and support your body in a way you enjoy and feel right.
A Stanford study (PMID 36630953) found in 2023 that even five minutes a day can meaningfully improve mood and reduce anxiety. Both breathing and mindfulness meditation help, but deep breathing showed a stronger impact. It improved mood more, lowered physiological arousal, and helped the body shift out of that chronic wired state so many women experience.
Cyclic sighing was the most effective technique of all. It created the greatest improvement in mood and significantly reduced respiratory rate, allowing the nervous system to settle quickly and naturally.
For anyone feeling tense, overstimulated, or emotionally overloaded...
Five minutes of intentional breathing can make everything feel a little lighter.
Please practice this slowly. Rushed breathing can be extremely dangerous. This is not medical advice.
