When Lee first came to us, he was facing a severe Class 3 tongue-tie, which limited his tongue movement and affected both his speech and sleep.

The Journey:
Through targeted myofunctional therapy, Lee strengthened his tongue in preparation for a tongue-tie release. After the procedure, he can now lift his tongue to the roof of his mouth independently!

The Results:
With ongoing therapy, Lee is experiencing improved speech clarity and better sleep, paving the way for a healthier, brighter future.

“When Mason was 6.5 once again a tongue tie was coming back into conversation. Amy referred us to Dr. Favre who diagnosed Mason with a pretty severe tongue tie, apparently the surgery when he was 3 didn’t fix anything. We immediately started seeing Miss Felicia at Gulf South Myofunctional Therapy to get Mason ready for Dr. Favre to do the tongue tie revision. What we thought would take weeks ended up taking 7 months. In June of 2024 Dr. Favre fixed Mason’s tongue tie and the improvement in his speech was noticeable the next day! Last week Mason graduated to going to see Felicia every 6 months instead of monthly and he now goes to Amy once a week instead of twice.

We questioned if this day would come, we watched our sweet boy struggle for years to communicate, to read because well it’s hard to sound out words when you cant make the sounds, saw him get upset when people couldn’t understand him. Now he is thriving, he is confident, loves school, and is so happy, and none of it would have been possible without Miss Amy, Miss Felicia, and Dr. Farve! Yall have changed Mason’s life and we will forever be thankful for all you have done! Thanks for being a part of his team, for crying with us, encouraging us to keep working and celebrating with us! 💙”

As adults, we often try to “fix” posture from the outside. We attempt to do this with stretching, strength, and adjustments.

While these things are helpful and beneficial, they may not address the root cause. The truth is, lasting change can often start inside the mouth.

Myofunctional Therapy strengthens the muscles that support nasal breathing, proper tongue & jaw posture, and healthy alignment - helping your body find its natural balance again.

When it comes to childhood airway issues, the “wait and watch” approach often means missing the window for early intervention.

Mouth breathing, snoring, and poor sleep aren’t things kids simply “grow out of”. These signs often point to underlying muscular or growth issues that can affect how the face and jaws develop, which affects how a child sleeps, focuses, and feels every day.

The earlier we address the root cause, the easier it is to guide healthy breathing and development.

If you ignore the airway, you miss one of the biggest drivers of orofacial underdevelopment.

Restricted breathing in childhood is more common than you might think. It can quietly affect growth, sleep, focus, and even facial development.
When a child can’t breathe well through their nose, the body adapts with mouth breathing, poor sleep, and fatigue often follows.
Over time, these patterns can impact the way their jaws, teeth, and airway develop.

As providers, it’s our responsibility to address these issues.
