Quick booster swap…..
Never give up, always strive for better.
This particular carb has eaten us alive. Literally! It’s from a builder that goes way out of bounds according to typical carb operating principles. Most builders wont touch them, the owner was so upside down in it that we “took it on”.
It had multiple issues causing the owner to constantly change jets and bleeds trying to chase a happy spot. It’s a big 1.62 Venturi in a billet body so annulars were almost mandatory. After a series of test drives on his and our cars we finally felt the last hurdle or hiccup in the carb. I had made the decision to but a super active booster to offset the huge Venturi….Houston we have a problem. Backing up a minute…the carb was really good, super quick acceleration, faster ets but it gurgled and sneezed on cruising at different times and loads making it difficult to diagnose. Car had No O2 and we weren’t able to put our data logger on. The boosters would just activate enough early in the transition to cause a “stumble”
Changed the boosters to those with a bit less signal and the annoying issue is gone.
I could have given him a free billet twin and be money ahead for all the labor and shop time involved. This customer was a saint, though a cussing one 😳, from across state lines that made many trips over. He didn’t give up and neither did we. It became a challenge because I despise something getting away from us not functioning
I see all these carb forums where the larger carb companies are always recommended, you’ll never know what you’re missing until you shop the small guy who wont give up you.
We appreciate our loyal customers!
