It is truly astounding how far back some countries kept amazing records. Consider this case:

On 12 January 1837 in Pietramelara, Caserta, Campania, Italy, 20-year-old Giovanni Battista Regna and 25-year-old Maria Teresa Vitiello were married. Giovanni Battista was the son of Nicola Regna, a barber, and Teresa Perretti. Maria Teresa was the daughter of Nicola Vitiello, also a barber, and Cecilia Baraviero. Both were born in Pietramelara.

Who knew that almost 200 years later their third great-granddaughter in America would be able to view a photograph of their original marriage record?
