Mr. Mike C. “Mick” Guenthenspberger, 65, of Seymour passed away on February 8, 2021 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born May 15, 1955, in Greenfield, IN, he was the son of the late Vincent and Clara Mae (Cantrell) Guenthenspberger.

On January 30, 1978 in North Vernon, IN he married Vicki C. Beach.

Mick retired June 30, 2017 after 38 years of service in the United States Navy and the United States Postal Service in Indianapolis, IN. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of the USPSA, and USS America Veterans Association. Mick enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping with his family. He also enjoyed country music and 70’s rock and roll. He and his wife loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife; son: Brian Guenthenspberger and brother Gary Guenthenspberger, niece April Anderson and nephew Billy Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph (Elizabeth) Guenthenspberger.

Funeral services will be on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1pm at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with Rev. Joe Caplinger officiating.

Friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 12 pm until time of service.

Burial will take place at Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery in Westport, IN with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Memorials may be written to Wounded Warriors, Disabled American Veterans, or First Baptist Church of Freetown.

David L Hicks, age 78 passed away Sunday February 7th 2021 at the Lafayette County Manor. David grew up on a farm in rural Shullsburg and farmed his entire life. David worked on tractors and cars / trucks. He farmed with his family and later started Hicks Auto Body. David and family ran Hicks Auto Body for several years and also sponsored a Slow Pitch Softball Team. David loved to play cards, pool, and golf with friends.

His family would like to acknowledge the care he received at Lafayette Manor. We would like to say “thank you” to the staff for your hard work and dedication.

David is survived by his wife, Jean A (Paxton) Hicks, Four (4) sons, Roger (Washington D.C.), Rodney (Monroe), Terry, (Shullsburg) and Tim (Shullsburg). Five (5) Grandchildren, Marques (Monroe), Elizabeth (Darlington), Victoria (Monroe) Aaron (Shullsburg) and Jada (Kronenwetter). And eight (8) Great Grandchildren, Carson and Parker (Darlington), Arabella and Aurora (Monroe), Berlyn (Monfort), Owen, Rigley, and Maegie (Monroe).

A private family memorial service will be held on February 11, 2021. Cards can be sent or dropped off in care of Erickson Funeral Services, 508 Park Pl Darlington Wi 53530. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in David’s name.

John Chaney funeral services set for next week

Funeral services for Temple’s Hall of Fame basketball coach John Chaney, who died Friday at age 89, will be held Monday, Feb. 8, at the Liacouras Center. There will be a public viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a private viewing for the family at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., there will be a celebration of life service that is private by invitation only. The service will be streamed online.
