Tucker Carlson: “Christian Zionism is a heresy and that offends me as a Christian”

In October 2025, U.S. conservative commentator Tucker Carlson sparked intense controversy by strongly criticizing Christian Zionism during an interview on his podcast with Catholic nationalist influencer Nick Fuentes. The conversation, which lasted more than two hours and garnered millions of views, addressed topics such as foreign policy, identity, and theology, but the most viral segment was Carlson’s attack on Christian Zionism, which he described as a distortion of the Christian faith (Carlson, 2025; All Israel News Staff, 2025; CBN News, 2025).

In Carlson’s exact words, quoted by multiple outlets: “Christian Zionists — like what is that? … I dislike them more than anybody, you know, because it’s Christian heresy and I’m offended by that as a Christian” (Carlson, 2025; All Israel News Staff, 2025; CBN News, 2025; The Christian Post, 2025). He also referred to this movement as a “brain virus” that has affected non-Jewish political figures such as Mike Huckabee (U.S. ambassador to Israel), Senator Ted Cruz, John Bolton, George W. Bush, and Karl Rove, whom he said he had seen “seized by this brain virus” (Carlson, 2025; All Israel News Staff, 2025; The Christian Post, 2025).

Carlson argued that tying the Christian faith to unconditional support for any action by the Israeli government is not authentic Christianity, but rather “something else.” His criticism focused on what he perceives as a subordination of Christian theology to political and geopolitical interests, particularly U.S. backing of Israel, which he considered harmful to U.S. interests (Carlson, 2025; CBN News, 2025).

It is important to clarify that Carlson’s statements did not directly attack Judaism or the Jewish people as a religion or an ethnicity—indeed, he explicitly rejected blaming “the Jews” in general, stating that doing so contradicts his Christian faith (All Israel News Staff, 2025; The Christian Post, 2025; Mother Jones, 2025).
