💙 Thank You, Newport News Shipbuilding HII ! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, for their generous $10,000 grant supporting STEM programs right here on the Virginia Peninsula!

This funding will help us expand hands-on STEM opportunities for girls by:
🔬 Delivering engaging STEM programs
🧪 Purchasing critical STEM supplies
🚀 Providing financial assistance so underserved girls can participate in our Community Troop programs with no cost barriers

Programs will be offered at Camp Skimino, partner locations throughout the Peninsula, and virtually, led by trained staff and expert STEM partners.

As shared in our application, “Supplemental STEM programs that enhance learning beyond the classroom are essential for our future. Early engagement in STEM is more important than ever.”

Thanks to Newport News Shipbuilding’s investment, girls across our community are beginning a journey toward becoming the next generation of engineers, scientists, and programmers.

👑 Meet Rachelle – Vice President of Programs, Speaker, and Lifestyle Encourager 👑

Say hello to Rachelle, our Vice President of Programs for Sanford Business & Professional Women!

Rachelle is the founder of Whitfield Interiors, a residential interior design studio based in Sanford, North Carolina. With nearly 20 years of experience as a designer and space planner, Rachelle is passionate about helping women and families create spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional, nurturing, and full of life.

After years of supporting the military community as a financial counselor and healthcare administrator, she is now fully re-establishing Whitfield Interiors, blending her eye for design with her love for intentional living. Her approach to design centers on curating elegant, personalized spaces that elevate everyday life — especially for military families and women balancing multiple roles.

An Army veteran, Army wife, and proud mom of two adult sons, Rachelle is also a speaker and aspiring writer. She is deeply committed to helping women — especially military women — design a life of ABUNDANCE in every sense: emotionally, spiritually, and creatively.

We’re so lucky to have Rachelle’s leadership, creativity, and heart guiding our programming this year!

👑 Meet Our President: Tokiya Ball 👑

We are delighted to introduce Tokiya Ball, President of the Sanford Business & Professional Women’s Board!

Tokiya is a dynamic leader who brings together a strong corporate foundation and an entrepreneurial spirit. She began her career in marketing and sales, building experience in the corporate world before embracing entrepreneurship over the past eight years. During that time, she has built a successful path in both real estate and as the founder of Ooh LaLa, a boutique Beauty Bar in Sanford dedicated to confidence, self-care, and community empowerment.

Originally from the Seattle area, Tokiya moved to North Carolina nearly 11 years ago and has called Sanford home for the past four. Her deep commitment to the community is matched by her passion for helping others grow—whether through homeownership, beauty wellness, or leadership.

Tokiya is also a proud mother of four and grandmother of seven. Her warmth, creativity, and drive continue to inspire, and we’re honored to have her guiding our BPW community for 2025–2026.
