Winter weather is right around the corner, which means now is the perfect time to prepare.❄️

Cold temperatures, icy roads, and power outages can impact our safety and health—especially for older adults, children, and those with medical needs.

Take a few minutes this week to restock emergency supplies, check your heating sources, and make sure your family’s winter plan is up to date.

A little preparation now helps keep our entire community safe and resilient all season long.

This Thanksgiving, we give thanks for the strength of our patients, the dedication of our staff and the support of the wonderful community we are honored to serve.

Every day at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital, we see moments of progress worth celebrating—a first step, a regained word after illness, a renewed sense of confidence after hard work and hope. Those moments remind us why we do what we do.

To our patients, families and partners — thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We’re grateful to walk beside you while celebrating every step you take along the way.

As the holiday season draws near, it’s the perfect time to check in with family and loved ones about Diabetes Awareness. In Nebraska, 1 in 10 adults have been told they have diabetes.
Let’s use this season of gathering to talk openly. Ask, “How are you doing with your health?” or “Shall we take a walk together?” Small conversations can lead to a big impact.
This season isn’t just about food and festivities it’s about looking out for one another.
Here’s to community, health, and caring for each other across our Nebraska communities.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to the safety of those little trick-or-treaters. Fortunately, there are lots of easy things parents and kids can do to stay safe on the spookiest of holidays.

Top Tips for Halloween Safety:

*Carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to help kids see and be seen by drivers.

*Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating.

*Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween and may dart into the street.

*Turn on headlights early in the day to spot kids from further away.

*Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks.

*When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.

*Choose face paint over masks when possible. Masks can limit children's vision.
