Why the Ionic Foot Bath????
Did you know that there are more than 2000 sweat glands and 4000 pores in your feet? It’s no wonder that detoxifying footbaths have been used in Ayurvedic and Eastern traditions for thousands of years!
In fact, this system of healing was also used by the Romans in conjunction with public baths to draw impurities out of the body through the processes of osmosis and diffusion.
While the use of ionization in a detox foot bath is relatively new, the technique itself is based on ancient and well-respected methods that are still practiced today. And, when combined with ionization, the detoxification effects can happen more quickly and be even more dramatic.
Let’s dive into exactly what an ion detox foot bath is, how it works, and how it can benefit your overall health.
How an Ion Detox Foot Bath Works
The process of an ionic detox foot bath is actually quite simple. We start by filling a tub with warm water. Salt is added to the warm water to improve conductivity. Then we place an array into the tub to produce a gentle electrical current.
This direct current breaks the water into positively charged hydrogen ions and oxygen gas, or negatively charged hydroxide ions and hydrogen gas, depending on the settings we choose.
When the machine is turned on, the patient might notice a slight tingling sensation in the feet. That’s because our bodies are made of water and electrolytes, and they allow the current to travel through the body. This current causes the tingling sensation as it works like a catalyst to boost the body’s own natural detoxifying abilities.
By the end of a 30-minute session, the water changes color. The color change is caused by the oxidation of the metal plates in the array and the ions reacting with solutes in the water.
What is detoxification?
In essence, detoxification is the process of removing toxic elements like heavy metals, mold, yeast, fungus, pesticides, preservatives, and other chemicals from the body. This process is naturally performed in the human body by the liver, kidneys, and even the skin.
But when the body is overburdened with too many toxins, the natural detoxification process is inhibited. According to the Centers for Disease Control, many illnesses are related to pollutants and toxins in the environment, which enter and build up in the body.
Detoxification removes excess toxins and enhances the body’s own natural ability to detoxify itself. It’s an essential first step in any treatment plan designed to fight chronic disease and improve overall health.

One of the best known uses for essential oils is their ability to assist you in unwinding after a tough day. Oils such as chamomile, lavender and clary sage in a diffuser can give you a much needed break from the stress of the day and help you sleep.

Many other essential oils, such as peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus, tea tree, sage, rosemary, grapefruit, lemon and thyme are anti-microbial and when introduced into the air in v***r form, can be a great way to keep a cold or flu away.

These essential oils can also be used to boost your immune system and diffusers double as humidifiers to help keep your airways moist causing you to breathe easier and be less susceptible to germs.

There are even claims that diffused oils such as ginger, chamomile, lavender, eucalyptus, clary sage, rosemary, pine and bergamot can be helpful in soothing headaches, sore joints and overworked muscles, as well as being a way to super-charge your brain cells.

10 Ways to Nurture Yourself During the Holidays
The holidays can be a fun and festive time of year, but they can also bring increased amounts of stress. Here is a list of things you can do to make sure you are taking time to nurture yourself during this busy season.


Make at least two commitments to yourself that you know you can keep each week - start with something simple such as exercising once a week for at least 30 minutes.

Make a gratitude list that you add to each week, or start a gratitude journal.

Begin each morning by taking 5 minutes to yourself for meditation, contemplation, or visuzalition - imagine how you want your day to turn out.

Go for a hike or walk, spend time outdoors connecting with nature.

Pamper yourself by taking a bath, lighting candles, use aromatherapy, and play relaxing music.

Give yourself permission to say "no" - you don't have to do it all!

Write a letter to yourself, a letter you would like to receive from someone else.

If you are feeling lonely, volunteer or reach out to friends.

Open the curtains - let in the light!

Acknowledge yourself right where you are, know that you are enough!

Many of you may know me…Donnalyn W. and I am most fortunate to work along side Gaia recently. But what I am so blessed about is that I can schedule myself into a massage on a regular basis and reap the benefits of helping my body kick itself into gear!!! We can look into massage and jump to the conclusion as it is just a spa treatment… a time for relaxation, etc. But seriously when you allow yourself to be treated by a professional who helps bring your system into a mode of healing it can help you rise to a new and stronger and healthier working machine!
Just some of things that a Massage session can touch on:
Reducing stress and increasing relaxation.
Reducing pain and muscle soreness and tension.
