✔️ **Score 0-1** = Low Risk (like me! I’m not taking aspirin because my score is 1)
⚠️ **Score 2+** = High Risk (requires close monitoring)

I am wholeheartedly adopting the PEACE and LOVE approach to tend to my new Achilles rupture.

A 2019 study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine titled "Soft-tissue injuries simply need PEACE and LOVE" highlighted that traditional methods like icing, taking anti-inflammatory drugs, and resting are outdated and unsuitable, especially for newly injured tissues.

What have I been doing this week?
- Actively moving my toes, foot, and knee to avoid tightness.
- Utilizing Normatec boots to help move swelling through the lymphatic system because I am unable to use my calf muscle effectively.
- Participating in passive Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) sessions at full occlusion for 10 minutes twice daily to reduce muscle atrophy, akin to protocols used before and after ACL reconstruction surgeries.

Beyond these technical strategies, maintaining a positive attitude is vital for a successful healing process. I am also dedicated to enhancing my knowledge by exploring the latest studies on Achilles tendon ruptures and discovering effective treatment options because education is another key part to this new way of caring for your injuries.

Monday I tore my Achilles tendon and knew it immediately. A lot of thoughts ran through my head (can't walk, my first "big injury", I have a family - wife, toddler, newborn; can I work?, not getting surgery)

The first pictures don't look like much but you can see the small indention in the area of my Achilles.

Healthcare access in America is amazing and I can see at times maybe a little too easy to gain access noted by the frequent flyers in the waiting room.

Within 2 hrs I was in an ortho office with a boot and x-ray completed. MRI scheduled within the same week. Confirmed full tear and opted to cast and go NWB for the next 4-6 wks.

Worst Case Scenarios in soccer are these 5 minute intervals when the player is working at their highest intensity.

Some research suggests that the following minutes after this period of high intensity effort is usually the time when soft tissue injuries happen.

So hopefully you get some great ideas for how to organize a purposeful training session through game play to achieve a desired result!
