A lot of adults with pelvic and low back pain get told it is just muscles. But when the pain sits right over the dimples of your lower back and flares with walking, standing, or getting out of a car, the sacroiliac joint is often the real trouble spot.
With an imaging-guided SI joint injection, our pain doctors place a tiny needle exactly into that joint using live X-ray, then inject numbing medicine and steroid. If your pain eases while it is numb, that tells us the joint is the source and the steroid can calm it down.
If this sounds like your pain pattern, you do not have to guess which joint is to blame. Our team in the Atlanta area can walk you through whether an SI joint injection fits your situation.

Chronic pelvic pain can make simple things like driving, working at a desk, or eating out feel like a challenge. Many adults are told it is just muscle tension or are passed between specialists without relief.
Certain nerves in the pelvis, like the pudendal or other nerve branches, can be irritated and keep sending constant pain signals. Under imaging guidance, our pain doctors can place numbing medicine near these nerves to see if your pain eases while they are quiet.
For some, these pelvic nerve blocks provide helpful relief on their own. For others, the blocks give us valuable information about which nerve pathways are involved so we can plan further treatment.
If pelvic pain is shrinking your world and you are not sure what is causing it, asking about diagnostic nerve blocks may be a good next step.

Adults often picture being laid up for days after an injection or ablation. For most outpatient pain procedures, you arrive, get your treatment, and leave the clinic the same day with a driver.
It is common to feel some soreness at the injection site or a brief flare in your usual pain before the steroid or nerve treatment settles in. We give written instructions on walking, lifting limits, and how to use ice or simple medicine for discomfort.
You usually return to light activities quickly, but heavy work or intense exercise may need to wait according to the specific procedure you had. Our staff calls out the red flags to watch for and when to contact us.
If worry about recovery has delayed you from getting help, we can explain exactly what to expect for the treatment you are considering.

New patients often walk into our Atlanta pain office hoping we can help, but without the details we need. That can slow things down or mean extra visits to gather missing information.
Before your first appointment, collect any spine or joint imaging reports, surgical notes, and a list of every medication and supplement you take, including past pain medicines that did or did not help. Write down when your pain started, what makes it worse, and what you have already tried.
Bring your ID, insurance card, and completed new patient forms if you filled them out at home. Coming prepared lets our doctors spend more time understanding your pain and less time tracking down paperwork.
If you are unsure what records you have or need, our staff can walk you through it before your visit.

Many adults with chronic neck or back pain get medial branch blocks and think, why did that help for a short time and then fade. That short relief is actually useful information. It tells us those small nerves to the facet joints are likely driving your pain.
Radiofrequency ablation is the next step when you are tired of repeat injections. Under X-ray, our doctors slide a thin probe to those same tiny nerves and use controlled heat to calm them so they stop sending constant pain signals.
You still move your spine, but the nagging ache with standing or bending can ease for a much longer stretch. If your test blocks worked and you want fewer appointments for shots, it might be time to ask about RFA instead of another round of numbing medicine.
Our Atlanta pain clinic can review your past blocks and see if you are a good fit.

They emphasize comprehensive, individualized evaluations to identify the actual source of pain before creating a tailored treatment plan, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
This process is especially important for people struggling with pain that affects multiple areas of the body such as muscles, joints, nerves, and organs, making it difficult to pinpoint the cause.
By focusing on accurate diagnosis first, the practice helps reduce the frustration that comes from treatments that never quite address the real issue.

Adults with facet joint pain often say mornings are the worst. Turning your head to back out of the driveway or looking over your shoulder sends a sharp, grabbing pain down one side of your neck.
These small joints between the vertebrae can become arthritic and inflamed over time. Muscle rubs and basic pain pills only go so far because the joint itself is irritated.
In our clinic, we use targeted facet injections and medial branch blocks under imaging to quiet those joints and confirm they are the problem.
If every morning starts with guarding your neck, it might be time to check if your facet joints need direct attention.
