We are very proud of the wide range of staff experience and expertise at Matheny, and we love seeing our team members share their knowledge in their professional networks. Please join us in congratulating Matheny's Facilities Manager Melissa Petracca, who participated in a Facilities Roundtable this morning as part of the 16th Annual NJAPPA Spring Conference! The roundtable brought facilities leaders from several institutions together to discuss the importance of frontline success and its impact on overall service quality and and workplace culture. Happy ! Today is a day that we show appreciation and thanks for dentists.
Dental care is so valuable to the health and wellness of all individuals, but it can sometimes be challenging for individuals with disabilities to find dental clinics that are equipped to handle their specific needs. That is why we are so proud of our dentists and dental center here at Matheny!
Our dentists are dedicated to the oral health of our clients and ensure that they receive equitable care at the Matheny Center of Medicine and Dentistry, located on our main campus in Peapack. Services at our dental center include both preventative care and restoration and provide our clients with both comfort and dignity.
Huge thanks to our Matheny dentists who show selflessness, devotion, and collaborative leadership every day for the benefit of our patients. We are so lucky to have you on our team!

Our Operations team is the best! Not only did they clear the snow in record time during both snow storms, but they genuinely care and they work hard to make sure everyone at Matheny is safe, warm and happy!

We're also celebrating by highlighting two women: Melissa Petracca and Arlyn Fontanilla. These extraordinary women are strong leaders in a male dominated industry and they make a positive impact in our community.

Matheny’s mission is to provide exceptional care and an optimal quality of life for children and adults with special needs and medically complex developmental disabilities.
Overview
Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities . . . a special education school providing academics, combined with functional life skills, for students, ages 3-21 . . . and a comprehensive outpatient center meeting the health care needs of people with all types of disabilities in the community. Matheny also trains healthcare professionals, therapists and educators in how to work effectively with persons who have developmental disabilities.
Matheny’s main campus in Peapack, NJ, is home to 101 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Its five group homes, located in Somerset and Warren counties, provide a residence in the community for an additional 30 adults. Many of the children and adults currently at Matheny, in addition to their primary diagnoses, have a long list of associated clinical conditions such as vision and hearing deficits, seizure disorders, mental retardation and dysphagia, with resulting aspiration problems.
While the great majority of Matheny patients have cerebral palsy as their primary diagnoses, Matheny also has patients with spina bifida, Lesch-Nyhan Disease (LND) and a wide range of uncommon conditions including Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Cornelia De Lange syndrome, Wolf-Hirshorn syndrome and 4Q Deletion syndrome. Lesch-Nyhan Disease is a rare x-linked recessive disorder associated with cognitive impairment, high levels of uric acid in the blood, kidney involvement and the hallmark symptom — severe and involuntary self-injurious behaviors. Matheny is recognized as the leading source of information on care issues regarding LND.
