On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Larry Gilbert Bennett, of Pearl River, LA passed on peacefully to be with our Lord at the age of 85. He was a man of many talents, proudly serving our country at a young age in the United States Airforce, then going on to put his skills to work as a carpenter, training horses as well as shoeing horses, driving the school bus for the public school system, and even owning and running his own feed store known as Hickory Feed. He was a master at all his hobbies, including hunting, fishing, watching his sports on tv, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and cheering on his great grandchildren at all of their sporting events and then sitting down to a good pot of red beans and rice with is family.
Larry was a very loving and caring man whos’ presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by the love of his life for 65 years Mrs. Betty Andrews Bennett, his two beautiful daughters Deborah Ann Bennett Moring (David) and Brenda Bennett Menefee, 7 amazing grandchildren; Shianne Menefee (Daniel), Ashley Gioe (Tyler), Lori Menefee, Amber Menefee (Anthony), Michael Menefee, Austin Moring, and Cameron Moring, his 9 precious great grandchildren that made his world light up; Madisyn, Jacob, Tyler, Nash, Zariya, Amany, Tanner, Sara, and DJ, and a host of nieces and nephews. Although we will miss him, we are comforted in knowing that he is no longer suffering here on Earth and is reunited with his parents Earl and Ethel Bennett, his siblings Dora Lee Henson and Carl Bennett, and his great granddaughter Ensley Menefee. Visitation for Mr. Bennett will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12 pm and with the funeral service starting at 12 pm from the chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River, LA. Interment to follow at Audubon Cemetery, Pearl River, LA. Brother Danny Williams to be officiating.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, James Gaines, Jr., age 60 of Newport, TN., passed on to be with our Lord. He was retired from the United States Air Force where he proudly served our country. He loved going fishing and being outdoors. Mr. Gaines is survived by his daughters Julie Gaines and Kailey Gaines, his grandchildren Angel, Mikayla, and Calvin, his sisters Gwen and Becky, and his nieces and nephews Travis, Krystal, Kyle, Joshua, and Alec. He is now reunited and rejoicing with his parents Jimmy Gaines, Sr. and Ruby Pittman. Private services were held at Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River, LA and he is now laid to rest at Magee Cemetery with his family.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Becky Spears, age 63 of Bogalusa, LA passed away peacefully. She was a LPN for many years in multiple different medical facilities, loved crocheting, doing all sorts of crafts, traveling, and spending time on the beach. She will be missed greatly. Mrs. Alice is survived by her sons Dewayne Spears (Kristie) and Matthew Spears, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her siblings Alton “Luby” Singletary (Cathy), Winnie Hayes, Jeff Singletary (Mary), Helen Holley, and Monica Hill. She is now reunited with her parents Alton and Mary Singletary, her sons Scott Spears and Jeremy Spears, and her brother Winston Craddock. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Charter Oak Cemetery, Pearl River, LA.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, David Jamel Wilson, age 63 of Slidell, La went peacefully to be with our Lord in the comfort of his own home surrounded by the ones he loved. David proudly served our country in the United States Navy and went on from there to put to use his excellent carpentry skills as well as the children’s minister for over 20 yrs, where he was also a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church in Slidell, LA. He loved fishing, golfing, and watching most all sports, but most of all he loved Jesus and his family. His bright spirit and love for others will be honored and remembered by all who met him as he was known for making a huge impact on all the lives of those who met him even if for just one time, he was a light in so many lives when they needed it the most. He is survived by his loving wife Deanna Wilson, his step children Phillip O’Connell, Johnathan O’Connell, Mike Perkins Jr. (Felicia), and Shane Perkins (Melissa), his grandchildren; Payton, Lily (Asher), Brady, Jeremy, Nolan, and Alexis, and great grandchildren Nash and Talan, his siblings Brian and Sherry Wilson, Niece Michelle, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family friends. He is now running the streets of Gold and reunited with his parents Alton and Louise Wilson, his uncle Thomas Wilson, and his sister in law Melissa Wilson. Memorial Services to honor his life will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026, at 11 am service visitation from 10 am until service time at First Pentecostal Church of Slidell, LA., with his final resting place being at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA at a later date. Everyone is welcome to join us in wearing green to help celebrate his life.

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Deborah Ann Dauzat passed away peacefully at the age of 66. Deborah was an amazing, loving woman and a hard worker. She previously worked at Walmart Kenner store and retired from the City of Kenner code Enforcement and Permits Department. She is survived by her loving sisters Belinda Dauzat DeCaro, Peggy Dauzat Todd, and Mary Dauzat Rachal and her brother in law Joseph DeCaro, and her nephews whom she adored Jay Todd and Johnathan Todd. She is now reunited in Heaven with her parents Percy P. Dauzat and Theresa Milligan Dauzat. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her and she will forever live on in our hearts.

On Jan. 17, 2026 at the age of 59, James Patrick (Pat) Creed gained his wings and left all of the pain and suffering behind after a 5 year battle with cancer.
He leaves behind siblings, Candace Monk, Mary (Liz) Creed, and Clara Wallace (Jerry). He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Falco, Father, Arthur Creed, and Siblings, Arthur Joseph (Joey), Alice Marie, and Tammy Joyce.
At his request, there will be no service. His only wish was for everyone to live life to the fullest.

Gary Weldon McShan passed on to be with our Lord in Metairie, LA, on January 16, 2026, at the age of 73. Gary was raised in Chalmette, Louisiana and lived a very fulfilled life with his family at the forefront. He was very proud of his two sons that he raised, and the beautiful families that they built. He was a simple man with an amazing talent of woodworking, love for animals, along with a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing and enjoying his stories.

Gary was a graduate from Chalmette High School. After graduation, Gary served his country as a veteran of the United States Airforce. Gary spent several years working at Chisesi Brothers Meat Packaging Company and the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation. After his years at Kaiser, he worked as a talented carpenter creating his own business doing skilled work for others along with carpentry work for FEMA.

He is preceded in death by his parents T.J. and Antoinette McShan, his second wife Louise McShan, his brother Leslie McShan, and his sister-in-law Anita McShan.

Gary is survived by his children, Christopher McShan (Shannon) and Brenton McShan (Monica), and their mother Judith McShan, his step-daughter Crystal Russo (Kyle), His twin sister Gaynell Noriea (Gary) and brother Wayne McShan. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Kacey Ducote (Vincent), Tori McShan (Cameron), Bailey Hernandez, Kensley McShan, Ethan McShan, Rylan Russo, and Noah Russo. He will also leave a remaining presence in his great-grandchildren’s lives; Kohen, Kyler, Spencer, and Reece. Along with lots of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Baxter and Sophie, who were his loving companions.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 12 pm to 4 pm with the service starting at 2 pm from the chapel of Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy 41, Pearl River, LA 70452.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Mr. Paul Joseph Harper, Sr., born and raised in Pearl River, LA, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Paul was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pearl River, La. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree at LSU in Forest Management where he pursued his career as a Forrester for most of his life. He was a handy man by trade being able to work well with his hands in most any situation and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Paul’s bright smile and loving, caring nature will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. We are comforted in knowing that he is no longer suffering from his bodily pains and is rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and now reunited with his wife of 50 years Wilda Harper, his parents John and Doshie Harper, his son James “Jess” Estes Harper, and his siblings.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his children; Patricia Harper, Paul “Joe” Harper, Jr. (Mary), and David Allen Harper (Debi), his 4 grandchildren Joseph, Andrea, Beau, and Michelle, and 3 great grandchildren Phoenix, James, and Ayva.

On Monday, January 12, 2026, Kip Edwin Asmus Sr, resident of Pearl River, LA., passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home at the age of 66. Kip was an avid fisherman, born and raised in New York, and loved his job of Paint and Body work on automobiles. He is survived by his wife Mary Holladay, his children Karin Jones, Kristina Asmus, and Kip Asmus, Jr., step children Chelsea Holladay (Nelson), and Kayla Holladay, grandchildren; Kaylan Amandor, Khloe Jones, Mason Ruggaber, Madison Asmus, Kylie Asmus, Kinsley Asmus, Hayden Junek, Eric “EJ” Aubert, Andre Romero, and Harlea Holladay, great grandchildren Kolton and Scarlett, and his siblings Kraig “Skip” Asmus (Pauline) and Kim Ahnert (Richard). On Monday, January 12, 2026, Judy Campo, resident of Slidell, LA., passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at the age of 83. Judy loved serving the community, was previously a cook for Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant for 15 years, and Lakeview Seafood Restaurant for 10 years. She loved being out with friends and family having a great time singing karaoke and line dancing any chance she got. She was the life of the party and a pleasure to be around. Judy leaves behind to carry on her legacy her 4 children; Connie Willman (husband John), Sheila Hallock (husband Jimmy), Harold Campo (wife Monica), and Melissa Aubour, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her brothers Rick Catchot (wife Ronda) and Randy Catchot (wife Tina), and a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to her as well. On Monday, January 5, 2026, Barbara Ann Davis, longtime resident of Pearl River, LA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at the age of 90. Mrs. Barbara was a longtime member of Pearl River Methodist Church, where she was also a member of The Barbara Club. She loved to work in her yard and was a good wife. She will be missed greatly. She is survived by her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and her brothers Daniel Pippin and James McBeath. She is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord and reunited with her husband of over 50 years, Hollis Davis, and her parents Thomas and Verna Pippin.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3 pm with visitation from 2 pm until service time at the Pearl River Methodist Church, Pearl River, LA.
