Im a day late but Remi had a drs appt yesterday 🙌🏻
Remi’s gained 6lbs in 3 months!! That’s the most he’s gained since his diagnosis 2 years ago 😭
Remi rode the 37-40lb line with a few dips for a lonnggg time after gaining his weight back from his month stay.
This means that his intestinal lining is healing ( so so thankful for this) . In return means he’s finally digesting food properly.
We get to say goodbye to failure to thrive 🙌🏻
Now, any amount of gluten can still damage is intestinal lining making it hard to digest food again resulting in weight loss… again
Now we follow a very strict gluten free diet, check labels , use rubble the whole 9 yards … I am human & I still make mistakes & when remi is alone that’s where Remi being aware of what to look for and knowing what it can do comes into play.
Last week I worked until 1am, got home slept for a little bit and got up to get all the kids ready for school.. I misplaced snacks in the wrong bags. Jace got Remi’s snack. (Gluten free) & Remi got Jaces snack (not gluten free) Remi pulled his snack out and immediately knew it wasn’t safe. His teacher asked because mom packed it & Remi was very adamant that was not a safe snack. His teacher trusting him read the label & said let’s put it back and get you one from the cabinet. I sent in snacks at the beginning of the year for days I forget & class birthdays . I told remi I was proud of him for recognizing , being adamant about it & not trusting it even though it came from mom.
Celiac takes a village to control , it’s a lot of work, it’s tiring, but we’ve made it this far, we’ve made progress & this summer we can not wait to head to St. Louis & meet with Dr . Sutton so we can see how far he’s came in a full year 🙌🏻
