Help us wish Eddie R. a happy birthday!🎂🎉

Eddie joined PCVAC as a Youth Corps member in 2024 and since has graduated to Senior Corps. He’s one of our dedicated Youth Corps Advisors all while going to EMT school and being a member of CVFD. Eddie is one of the kindest people and we are very lucky to have to him a part of our organization!

We hope that you have a great day Eddie! Thank you for all that you do for our agency and our community.

On Thursday afternoon, 75B1 crew came across a vehicle with a flat tire on Route 9 southbound. Without hesitation, the crew stopped, activated emergency lights for safety, and assisted the driver with changing the flat tire.

Incidents like this are a reminder that serving the community goes beyond emergencies — it’s about being there when help is needed. Thank you to 75B3, Peekskill Police Department, and the NYS HELP truck for their support and teamwork.

Lights on. Team ready. Community protected. 🚨

Proud of the teamwork shown throughout the night, with temperatures below 2°F and wind chills feeling like -15°F.

Stay warm and stay safe out there. 👏❄️

We hope that everyone enjoyed their snow day❄️

While most were snowed in, our first responders were hard at work making sure our ambulances could get out and respond to calls. Thank you to everyone who came out to cover calls and participated in snow removal.

As you may have heard (or maybe not) we’re expected to be hit with a major storm Sunday January 25th into Monday January 26th. PCVAC will be in full operation ready to respond during the storm and 24/7.

Here are some of PCVAC’s tips for snowstorm preparedness:

1. Avoid unnecessary travel
2. Don’t over exert yourself while shoveling, this can lead to injuries and medical episodes
3. Stay hydrated
3. Prepare ahead of time with lots of food, water, first aid and any other necessities for yourself and others
4. Know your resources!

City Manager Matt Alexander has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Peekskill for the duration of the upcoming winter storm, with city crews actively preparing in advance for this weekend.

Starting on Sunday at midnight: Citizens are advised to stay off City streets unless absolutely necessary. They are also urged to comply with Winter Parking regulations to ensure that each resident is able to benefit from emergency and plow vehicle access. A full staff is at work and additional plow vehicles have been added to the fleet.

In an attempt to help commuters and Residents adhere to the Alternate Side Street Parking Regulations during the upcoming snow event, FREE PARKING will be made available starting on Saturday, January 24th – Monday, January 26th in the following locations:

* Nelson Avenue Parking Garage (in metered parking spaces ONLY; parking in permitted spaces is not included)

* James Street Parking Garage (All covered spaces within the parking deck structure are available, including permitted spaces. Please note that the top level is not recommended as it will not be plowed, and the James Street outdoor parking lots are not included).

* Metered street parking is NOT included in the temporary free parking.

* Please be sure to adhere to the Alternate Side Street Parking Regulations posted.

* Do not place any snow onto the streets. Snow from vehicles and sidewalks shall be placed behind the curb, behind the sidewalk, or removed appropriately.

* Please adhere to the sidewalk regulations (regarding required snow removal time limits). These requirements are intended for the safety of all pedestrians.

Sanitation Services:
· THERE WILL BE NO Monday, January 26th garbage pickup
· West Side garbage pickup: Tuesday, January 27
· East Side garbage pickup: Wednesday, January 28
· Newspaper and cardboard/Holiday Tree pickup (residential citywide): Thursday, January 29
· Commingle pickup: Friday, January 30 (unchanged)

We will continue to monitor the storm and advise if any other services or meetings will be affected.
