Sheri’s s**t show…..back from vacay 🏖️😁🏝️

First I want to thank all of you that came in Friday. It was a record breaking day and every single person that came in was patient with us while we were trying to get you in and out in a reasonable time. Most of you thanked us and appreciated what we were doing. I can’t tell you how much that means not only to me, but my employees who work very hard.

And then….there was Thursday. Mind you we had just opened after being closed for a week and were getting the lanes set up so I could have an employee up front counting customers. A man came in and within 3 minutes was freaking out on us because we weren’t fast enough for him……well, most of you know by now how I feel about rude customers.

Yep!! I told him to pick up his cans and leave. He stormed out and left the cans. Soooo I bought cookies for my employees. Thanks for the cookies!!

We return to regular business hours next week.

If you stopped by today and realized you may have dropped off more than your cans, we found a door panel thingy from a truck in the front parking lot. I will hold onto it for awhile….along with all of the other random totes and baskets we have. Just let me know if it’s yours!!

Sheri’s S**t Show….when they don’t have Facebook…❤️❤️

I had a gentleman come in today with about 150 containers. As we were counting his containers he asked me how long I’ve been open. I told him 26 years. He asked me if I knew why he comes here and I said I wasn’t sure. He said that he lives in Fremont and he’s been coming here for the past 12-14 years. He added that myself and the employees who have helped him are always kind and friendly. Our business is clean and we are always good with our counts. He said he went south of Fremont once and would never go back. And he tried Oskaloosa a few times and they up and closed one day.

You can’t make this stuff up!! I asked if he read my Facebook post yesterday, he was older and said he doesn’t do Facebook.

Then my next 2 customers after he left were from Fremont. That is a 40 minute drive. They asked me who he was because they probably knew him.

I sincerely thank all of my customers who live close and those that live far away that continue to come in. And those who offer kind compliments without knowing their words offset snarky ones. You are truly the best!!

Sheri’s s**t show on a snowy day……I’m trying to clear up some confusion.

Precounted order: This is when you count your containers at home then bring them in and we pay you for your count. When you come inside make sure you tell us they are precounted. We don’t always know or remember to ask.

Black bags and precounted orders: We might dump your bags into our clear bags to make sure everything has deposits on them. This helps us not pay for items without deposits.

Estimated bags: These are bags you purchase from us and fill to the line. You bring them in and we estimate what you have based on what is in the bag. Cans. Plastic. Mixture of cans and plastic. Full to the line. Size of containers in the bag. We give you a clean bag to replace the bag you brought in.

Counted orders: We currently should have someone available to count your containers. You DO NOT have to bring your containers in specific bags if you want us to count them.

Fundraisers and businesses: Do not always fall into these categories. If you are planning a fundraiser or need help with containers from your business stop in and talk to us. We have several options for you.

WE WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT PRECOUNTED ORDERS IN BLACK BAGS. WE HAVE HAD TOO MANY PEOPLE PUT NONDEPOSIT CONTAINERS IN THE BAGS. YOU CAN PURCHASE OUR BAGS OR DUMP THEM INTO OUR BAGS WHEN YOU GET HERE.

WE ALSO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE YOUR COUNT IF IT DOES NOT LOOK ACCURATE. YESTERDAY WE HAD A CUSTOMER WHO HAD 135 LESS THAN WHAT SHE TOLD US SHE HAD.

WHEN WE HAVE ENOUGH EMPLOYEES, WE WILL HAVE 1 PERSON AVAILABLE TO COUNT CONTAINERS FOR CUSTOMERS.

IT GETS HARDER AND HARDER TO OFFER SERVICES TO PEOPLE WHO ABUSE THE SYSTEM. WE KEEP THE FRONT DOOR OPEN FOR THE CUSTOMERS WHO APPRECIATE WHAT WE DO. IF THESE KIND OF ISSUES CONTINUE, WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW PRECOUNTS AND ONLY DO ESTIMATES.

ALL OF THE ITEMS BELOW CAME FROM FROM 1 PRECOUNTED ORDER. NONE OF THEM HAVE DEPOSITS.

Sheri’s s**t show winter edition. I made a little old lady cry today…..but, it’s not what you think.

This sweet lady came in yesterday with a bunch of containers in her car. She either calls ahead or steps inside so we can help her because she has a cane. She had quite a few and asked if we would count them and we did.

Today she came back with even more, but tried to finagle them inside the building herself. I stopped her and told her we would take care of getting them out, counting them, and bringing her the money.

When we finished I brought the money to her in the car and with tears rolling down her cheeks she told me she felt bad for bringing in so many and not helping but she desperately needs the money for food etc. I told her to never feel bad. We will always help her and others who are in the same situation.

While we have changed so that everyone comes through the front door, if you are handicapped or elderly and need help, you are always welcome to come to the west side door where there isn’t a ramp or call ahead and we will come to your car get your containers and bring back your money.
