A few years back the Montezuma Food Pantry couldn’t find volunteers to clean out their cage and prepare their containers for us to pick them up. They were going to have to stop using it for donations. We didn’t want to see that happen so we took over cleaning out their cage.

We have came to know how important the container donations are to their fundraising efforts. If you are in Montezuma at this time of need I’m sure they would really appreciate your donations to the cage in front of the Super Valu. If you are closer to Pella please feel free to drop off containers inside and we will get the money to them.

The holidays are coming and they do a phenomenal job helping people. Please help us help them!!

A big thank you to The Sign Spot for making our signs for us.

If you are a part of any of the groups that benefit from the work he does, please make sure to thank him when you see him!

We have 2 new signs. If you want to donate to them before we get them on a shed just bring your containers inside and let us know. We will have the other 3 up through November.

Thank you for supporting these great groups!!

A few days ago I was asked a few questions. I thought some of you might appreciate the answers I gave.

Question 1: Isn’t the only reason you are successful is because the City Of Pella and local businesses pay to keep you open?

My response: I’ve owned this business for 25 years. There hasn’t been any assistance from people to keep me open. I’m a smart girl…MBA in business and accounting so with that knowledge and a lot of hard work that’s why I have been successful.

Question 2: Isn’t your new changes illegal?

My response: We have multiple options for you to be paid. No it is not illegal.
1 You can precount your containers and as long as your count looks accurate we will pay you for your count.
2 You can count your own containers when you get here.
3 If you bring in a small order we can count them if we are adequately staffed.
4 You can set up an appointment and we will put you in our rotation of fundraisers and businesses that we count. It will take about 3 weeks for you to get counted.
5. We can estimate what you have immediately and pay you on the spot. If you use our bags you will get a replacement bag that normally costs $.75. We have set payment amounts that are designed to pay you pretty close to what you have without over paying you.

Question 3: Doesn’t the government control what you do and pay you?

My response: I am a privately owned business. No government control other than the fact that they wrote the law and put the DNR in charge of it. The nickel you pay at the grocery store goes to the Distributor (Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser, etc) They are responsible for picking up their products and reimbursing me the nickel.

I appreciate people who are curious about the hows and whys of my business. Instead of listening to rumors they ask the questions and appreciate the responses.

Hey! To my favorite customers, I just wanted to let you know that I will be having knee replacement surgeries next week and in December. I will be taking a little bit of time off. (hopefully a couple of months) So if you think I've sold the place I haven't. LOL

Our hours will be the same so you don't have to worry about that.
Monday through Friday 8:30-4:30

I would truly appreciate the kindness that you have shown to me since I made some big changes in August be continued to the good people that will be running the show while I am gone.

Thank you all for your continued support of my business!!

We are collecting pop can donations to raise funds for the Sully ballpark rejuvenation. You can drop off your cans on 1st Ave, opposite Kruseman Imp. Additionally, Pella Can and Bottle Redemption Center is also accepting drop-offs. Please mention Sully Hometown Pride and they will allocate a space for our fundraiser. Sheri’s s**t show day 8…..don’t believe everything you see on the internet.

I checked my work voicemail and had an angry voicemail from a person who claimed “my website” says that we are open on the first Saturday of the month and why weren’t we there.

We also have people come in and tell us what the internet says our hours are and argue that “my website” told them.

First of all I DO NOT HAVE A WEBSITE!!

Second of all you can Google the redemption center and a multitude of sites come up with different hours that we are open. While I try to send corrections they don’t get changed.

So PLEASE stop believing everything you see on the internet and then lash out at me when I can’t control thousands of websites.

We are open:
Monday through Friday 8:30-4:30

Thank you!!

Sheri’s s**t show day 7…..so many touch the heart.

I’ve owned this business for 25 years. I have met so many people along the way. Great ones and not so great ones. Today is about the great ones who stopped in yesterday.

Lady 1….I first learned her story during COVID. She was bringing in cans on a weekly basis. I learned that she uses the money to buy her medication. She came in a month or so ago and told me she was moving from her home of 20 plus years. She was very sad because she said she wouldn’t be in as often because she’s not going to be driving. She stopped in yesterday with 2 plastic bottles. She told me she saved them just so she could come see me. We chatted for a little bit about her new home and life. ❤️❤️

Lady 2….she is handicapped and I let people like her give us a call and we watch for their car and go get their containers and bring back the money. Yesterday I saw her getting out of her car and rushed out to help her. I told her to jump back in her car and we would take care of her. She said she forgot to call and was happy I saw her because she has been having trouble getting around. She made a comment about really needing that money and she had a friend who saved them for her and how grateful she was. Tears filled her eyes as we talked about some personal things. ❤️❤️

Lady 3….she is also a regular customer. We talked about how long she has been coming in. She brought me some apples from her tree and told me how much she appreciated us. ❤️❤️

25 years of sweet beautiful people who share life’s stories or struggles. In our life journey we never know what is happening in other people’s lives. I could tell multiple stories of conversations and hugs and things that go beyond “returning” containers.

Thank you to all of you who share these things with me!! I have been blessed to not only call you a customer, but also a friend!!

Sheri’s s**t show day 6….Why!!!!!!

You’re an as*hole!!

This is bag one of two from someone who uses earplugs and safety glasses. Donated to the Pella Forte Dance Team. When you donate crap like this to fundraisers the bag goes straight to the garbage. So why not throw them away at home!!

We are starting a new fundraiser!!
They do not have a shed yet, but you are more than welcome to drop off containers through the front door for them. Just tell us what group you want them to go towards.

The Pella High School Boys Baseball team would appreciate your donations! The team will be using money raised for training equipment. They will also use it for arm care for players.

Sheri’s s**t show day 5….We appreciate you!!

Thank you to all of the people who have stopped in and said those words to us!!

Today though we are saying WE APPRECIATE YOU!!

Thank you to all of you who have donated containers in the sheds in front of the buildings!! Without your generosity and support we would not be able to give money to these groups!!

We just finished 5 groups and YOU donated:
$2,400 to the PHS Marching Dutch
$1,200 to the Pella Christian High School Cross Country Team
$700 to the PHS Wrestling Program
$400 to the Pella High School Volleyball Team
And 150 clear plastic 2 Liters to the Pella Middle School for creating ecosystems

On the sheds now are:
PHS Forte Dance Team
Pella Shooting Club
Marion Couny Habitat for Humanity

However! Remember you can donate to ANY GROUP that has been on our sheds. Just because the sign is down does NOT mean we stop collecting containers for them. You just need to stop inside and let us know what group to give them to and we add them to the next fundraiser they have!

AGAIN! WE APPRECIATE YOU!! THANK YOU!!
