TOMORROW is the day!

National Prescription Drug is your chance to help keep your community safe. Clean out your medicine cabinet and safely dispose of unused medications- free and anonymous.

1 in 20 Americans misuse prescription drugs each year, and 70%+ get them from friends or family medicine cabinets.

It is easy to forget about leftover prescriptions- but keeping them increases the risk of misuse, accidents, and theft.

Take action tomorrow, April 25 10am-2pm.

This Saturday is the DEA National RX

What is it?
A free, nationwide event where you can safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired medications.

Why does it matter?
1. Prevents misuse and addiction
Nearly 50% of opioid misuse starts with a prescription. Among teens, prescription drugs are one of the most commonly misused substances after alcohol and cannabis.

2. Reduces accidental poisoning
Kids, pets, or even adults can accidentally take the wrong medication or dose if drugs are left accessible.

3. Protects the environment
Improper disposal, such as flushing or trashing meds, can contaminate water supplies affecting the wildlife and ecosystems.

4. Limits illegal diversion
Unused opioids and other controlled substances can be stolen or sold if not disposed of correctly.

It is simple: unused meds = unnecessary risk.

Drop them off Saturday, April 25, 10am-2pm at a collection site near you.

We just wrapped up our April Prime For Life 12-Hour Course and 48 Hour Jail Diversion weekend ✔️

Next up: May 15–16 at Keys to Success

Who qualifies?
First-time OWI offenders.

Why take it?
It’s a court-mandated class often required for sentencing, probation, or getting your license back.

When should you take it?
Your court or probation officer sets the timeline—typically within 30–90 days after conviction.

What if you don’t?
More waiting, more stress, and no keys in your hand.

Bottom line:
Sign up, get it done, and get back on the road this summer 🚗
Trust us—this class beats asking for rides all summer.

This weekend, you can be the support someone needs.

Drinking is often tied to connection—parties, celebrations, or just hanging out. Because alcohol lowers inhibitions, it can make socializing feel easier, which can also make choosing to stay sober more difficult.

That is where you come in.

Supporting a friend’s choice not to drink, especially when others are, shows real maturity and strong character. It proves that friendship is not about alcohol, it is about connection.

Small actions go a long way. Not pressuring, changing the subject, or simply respecting their choice makes a difference. You’re helping normalize something that should already be normal—choice.

It might feel awkward at times, and that’s okay. You are building trust, and people remember that.

By showing up this way, you are setting a positive example for everyone around you.

Alcohol Awareness Month: Know the Timing

Alcohol enters the bloodstream faster than most people realize. Within just a few minutes it is already being absorded, and it typically reaches its peak in about 30-60 minutes, sometimes faster on an empty stomach.

What is slower, and often overlooked, is how long alcohol stays in your body. On average, the body processes about one standard drink per hour. That means even after you stop drinking, alcohol can remain in your system for hours, continuing to affect your reaction time, coordination, and judgment.

This is where people get in trouble: feeling sober is not the same as being sober.

As the initial buzz fades and sense of control seems to return, the blood alcohol level may still be elevated. The false sense of sobriety can lead to risky decisions, especially when it comes to driving.

When it comes to alcohol, the effects come on quickly, but leave much more slowly.

Fast in. Slow out. Trust the science - not the feeling.

One of our women's groups recently read Not Drinking Tonight by Amanda E. White.

The book opens up conversations about topics many people face in recovery, including building a social life without alcohol, creating and maintaining healthy boundaries, working through shame connected to past drinking, and learning to regulate emotions and stress without relying on a "comfort substance".

If you are interested in reading the book yourself, feel free to reach out to our office - we have a few extra copies available and would be happy to share them with you.

Sometimes the right book at the right time can open the door to meaningful reflection and growth. 📚
