As a T1 diabetic myself , educating people with diabetes , someone ask me that question morning: “ As a type 2 diabetic , can I be out of insulin ? “
For many people with type 2 diabetes, it is possible to reduce or even come off insulin over time but it depends on several factors. Things like your pancreas’ ability to still make insulin, how long you’ve had diabetes, your current blood sugar control, and lifestyle habits all play an important role. Some patients who make changes in nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and continue regular follow-up with their physician are able to manage their diabetes with oral medications or sometimes even lifestyle changes alone.
That said, every person’s journey is different. For some, insulin remains the safest and most effective way to control blood sugar and protect long-term health. The best next step is to work closely with your healthcare team to see what’s realistic for you.
Remember: “Every step you take toward better health, no matter how small, moves you closer to the life you want. Regular blood sugar control and staying connected with your physician is the key to your success. ALB ❤️
