ALLENSTOWN – Elizabeth Mary (Chase) Dustin, 84, a longtime resident of Allenstown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Concord Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 25, 1941, in Nashua, NH, daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Colford) Chase.

Betty was the loving wife of Robert Edward Dustin who tragically preceded her in death in 1976.

She dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning with her many years as a loving and patient daycare teacher. Her greatest calling, however, was as a foster mother, opening her heart and home to countless children over 44 remarkable years. Her kindness and compassion touched every life she encountered. In recent years, Betty brought that same warmth and generosity to her work in customer service at Walmart, where she was known for her friendly smile and genuine care for others.

Betty found great joy in the simple beauty of life, especially in time spent by the ocean. She loved traveling whenever she could, with Costa Rica holding a special place in her heart. Her journeys often took her to visit family in Hawaii and the Carolinas, where she eagerly looked forward to family reunions filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Her adventures also took her to West Germany and Paris France, where both countries she rejoiced with far away family members. Above all, Betty cherished the moments shared with her family, who were always at the heart of her life. She will be remembered as a caring, giving, hardworking, and independent woman whose warmth and strength touched the lives of all who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her sons, Robert Edward Dustin, Jr. and Kenneth Edward Dustin; her brother, John Chase; and brother-in-law, Bob Savageau.

She will be remembered by her daughters and family: Kelley Flood and her husband, Thomas of ME, Cathy Morency, Chrissy Dustin, Sam Xavier and her husband, David, Stephanie Goudreault and Jessie Dustin all of NH; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Kay Savageau of NC, Roberta Rioux and her husband, Bob of CA and Kenneth Chase and his wife, Carol of NH; daughter-in-law, Pam Ward of NH; sister-in-law, Stella Chase of NH; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Roan Family Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory or offer condolences please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com.

Be Informed, Be Prepared....the most common Myths and Facts

CREMATION
It comes as no surprise that cremation is quickly becoming the preferred disposition at the time of death. In New Hampshire, approximately 82% of individuals are electing cremation when death occurs. According to the National Funeral Directors Association research, "the steadily rising popularity of cremation is attributed to a number of factors, including consumer considerations, environmental concerns, an increasingly transient population, fewer religious prohibitions of the practice and changing consumer preferences, such as the desire for simpler, less ritualized funeral practices. Cremation has become socially acceptable as more Americans are thinking and talking about death in new ways, and its popularity is expected to intensify..."
With the prevalence of cremation, there are also many myths surrounding it. It is our hope to clarify some of these for you.

MYTH: If I choose cremation, I still need to be embalmed and buy a casket

THE FACTS: By law, embalming is only required in certain special situations, such as a funeral with viewing. While this is certainly an option when cremation is desired, it is by no means required. Should you elect to choose a simple cremation or cremation service with no viewing, embalming is NOT required. Furthermore, a casket is NOT required when a simple cremation is selected, however, we do offer rental caskets for those families desiring to have a public viewing prior to cremation taking place.

MYTH: If I choose cremation, no one is allowed to see me before the cremation.

THE FACTS: Except in extenuating circumstances, there is nothing that says a brief, private family viewing cannot be done prior to cremation. In fact, many families have expressed a relief after having those final private moments of closure. Unlike other cremation providers, we do not charge extra for that opportunity if it is requested.

MYTH: My local Funeral Home does not do cremation....I'll have to use some other cremation provider or society.

THE FACTS: While it is true that some local funeral homes may limit their cremation service options or not operate their own crematory, they can all assist in one way or another. Many funeral directors elect not to operate their own crematories in order to ease the risk of errors and liability. In many cases, funeral homes will establish a long-lasting relationship with a reputable third-party crematory, who is also regulated by a State Funeral Board and held to the utmost standards.

MYTH: I got a very low price on cremation---this is the best provider there is!

THE FACTS: Read the fine print! While many cremation providers will advertise their low price or their ability to "offer the same service for less," this may not always be the case. Ask what is included with this cremation price. Oftentimes, some providers will charge an additional fee to meet with you in your own home, to remove a pacemaker prior to cremation, to allow for a private family viewing prior to cremation, to meet with you or conduct a service on a weekend, or will even charge extra for cremation of those individuals above a certain weight. Before signing a commitment, ask for a breakdown of everything you are paying for. If circumstances allow for it, don't be afraid to call a few different providers. If you ask for pricing over the phone, funeral homes are required to provide you with that information or a General Price List if you request it. A lot can be said for how you are spoken to and treated during that initial phone call. First impressions are paramount!

We encourage you to contact us should you have any other questions or concerns. When cremation is chosen, the possibilities are endless and we pride ourselves on continuing to adapt to the needs of our families.

HOOKSETT – Michelle L. “Mimi” Petit, 62, of Hooksett, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center in Manchester on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Mimi was born on July 16, 1963, in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Albert and Yvonne L. (Thibeault) (St. Germain) Petit.

Mimi was raised and spent most of her life in Allenstown, before moving to Hooksett to live with her siblings. For many years, Mimi was a proud cafeteria staff member at New Hampshire College and a volunteer through The Moore Center – though she was equally excited to tell everyone she “retired” when that chapter of her life closed.

To know Mimi was to love Mimi. And it often seemed no one was more well known than she. When out in public with her family, she was regularly approached by old friends and acquaintances who were strangers to everyone but her. Countless people have heard her famous line, “I know you!,” followed by her beaming smile and big hugs.

Mimi will be remembered for the joy she brought to everyone around her. She was the life of the party and could make a whole room laugh with her quick wit. In her prime, you couldn’t pull Mimi from the dance floor. She never let a wedding go by without a request for “The Chicken Dance” and stole the show every time. On holidays, Mimi sent smiles around the dinner table with her signature way of saying grace – individually naming everyone seated to say she loved them. No one’s love was more pure than Mimi’s.

In addition to her parents, Mimi was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Lionel W. Martin, Jr. She is survived by her siblings, Maurice St. Germain and Ruth A. Martin, both of Hooksett; nieces and nephews, Lindsay Johnson and her husband, Matthew of Derry, Shannon Paquette and her husband, Gerid of Sutton and Joshua Martin and his wife, Jean of Windham; great nieces and nephews, Luke, Zara, Elias, Eve and Neil; and many extended family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10 School Street, Allenstown. A Committal Service will take place immediately following at St. John the Baptist Cemetery – NEW, River Road, Allenstown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mimi’s memory to The Moore Center: for monetary donations, you can print out their donation form and mail it to: Ellen Roposa, Moore Center Services, 195 McGregor Street, Unit 400 Manchester, NH 03102 or visit https://moorecenter.org/donate/ or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10 School St, Allenstown, NH 03275 or online at https://www.wesharegiving.org/app/giving/WeShare-2814.
