PEMBROKE – Kathryn D. Abbott, 78, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by her family at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on September 29, 1947, in Elkins, WV, the first of four children to Marshall C. and Doris M. (Lewis) Arnold. Kathy, as she was known to friends, and Diane, as she was known by her family, graduated from Brighton High School in Brighton, MA, in 1965. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she was employed at Clark and White Motors in Allston, MA, working in the accounting department while also covering duties as a receptionist. In 1969, she married and soon thereafter welcomed her three beloved children.

In the 1980s, she moved her family to Litchfield, NH, and worked for a short time as a waitress at China Village in Hudson. She later purchased her first home in Londonderry and began working at Parkland Medical Center, where she retired as an assistant dietary technician after 26 years of loyal service.

Kathy could often be found in the kitchen baking and cooking. She was well known for her whoopie pies and her ham and cheese noodle dinner. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching General Hospital, Walker, Texas Ranger, and game shows. She was also a big fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Kathy enjoyed crafting, completing crossword puzzles, and decorating for Christmas, which was her favorite time of year. Her love for Elvis Presley and his music will resonate with our family forever. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

She is survived by her children, Kim Cote and her husband, Sean, of Weare, NH; Scott Abbott and his wife, Michele Robitaille, of Manchester, NH; and Jason Abbott and his wife, Karolyn Seeger, of Pembroke, NH. She is also survived by her siblings, Deborah Sereda and her husband, Richie, of Mansfield, MA; Larry Arnold and his wife, Donna Steely-Arnold, of West Bridgewater, MA; and Jeffrey Arnold and his wife, Patricia, of Haines City, FL; her five grandchildren, Lauren Lachance, Mackenzie Seeger, Julie Abbott, Zoey Maunsell, and Joseph Seeger; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her smile and kindness will be missed by all. Heaven has surely gained an angel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke. To share a memory or offer condolences, please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com.

Richard S. Castaldo, 69, of Concord, N.H., passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

To know Rich was to know he was “living a dream.” Ask how he was doing—whether he was at the driving range, spending time with family, or doing nothing at all—and that was always his answer: delivered with a bright smile and the familiar twinkle in his blue eyes.

Born Nov. 2, 1956, in New Rochelle, N.Y., Rich spent his early years bouncing between the basketball court and the golf course before heading to Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., where he met the love of his life, Susan.

Rich graduated from Bentley in 1978 with degrees in Management and Computer Systems, part of one of the early graduating classes in this emerging field. Rich and Susan married that same year and built a life together centered on family, laughter, and partnership.

They welcomed two daughters, Kate in 1987 and Karolyn in 1992. The family later settled in Bedford, N.H., where they enjoyed watching them grow up and made many cherished friends.

Technology became the foundation of Rich’s long and successful career. After building his own business, Success Systems, he later joined Fidelity Investments, where he spent many years and ultimately retired as Senior Vice President of Technology.

Retirement allowed Rich to focus on the things he loved most: time with family and time on the golf course.

His passion for golf began in his youth as a caddy and stayed with him for the rest of his life, taking him to courses around the world. Even when the game became more difficult for him, he always found a way to enjoy it—and to share it with others, including teaching his grandchildren and watching Karolyn develop her own love for the game in recent years.

Rich was adventurous with food and loved researching new restaurants and recipes to try in the kitchen. A total TV and movie buff, he watched everything from cooking shows to classic movies, and catching football games with Kate was a favorite.

More than anything, Rich valued being a husband, father, and grandfather. Being “Dad” and “Papa” was one of his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments. He supported his children and grandchildren in all they did, cheering them on in school, on the field, and in their careers. Going to Dominik’s football games and Gianna’s soccer games, and seeing Shankaya complete her Medical Assistant program these last few years, brought him so much happiness.

Rich will be remembered for his quick wit and endless punchlines, always ready with a joke that could bring laughter to any room. Even during treatment, he brought that same humor to every situation, determined to get at least one smile or laugh along the way.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Castaldo; his daughter Kate Castaldo-Rice and her husband Raheem Rice, and his grandchildren Shankaya, Dominik, and Gianna; and his daughter Karolyn Towle and her husband Greg Towle, and his grandpups Remy and R***r. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Theysohn; his stepmother, Jacquelyn Castaldo; and his brothers, Bob Castaldo and Todd Castaldo. He was predeceased by his father, John Castaldo, and his sister, Kimberley Stusse.

A memorial service will be held in late spring. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Roan Family Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements.

PITTSFIELD – David Henry Valley, 57, of Pittsfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

He was born on July 13, 1968, in West Palm Beach, Florida, the son of Monique Marie (Levasseur) Valley and the late Henry John Valley. Dave was raised in Pembroke and spent many years working as a self-employed floor New Hampshire State Veterans Cemeterymanship and the work he did for others.

Music was a constant in Dave’s life. A talented and passionate musician, he played guitar and drums and enjoyed singing, often joking that he was a “one-man band.” Some of his favorite moments were spent playing music with his “basement band” friends, especially with his best friend, Larry. Dave loved both listening to and performing music, with a special appreciation for 80’s rock and classic country.

Dave also found great joy at home, particularly in his garden. He spent countless hours tending to vegetables he grew himself, with corn being one of his favorites. Gardening was more than a hobby—it was something he loved to share, often giving his harvest to family and friends. Dave took great pride in his home, dedicating time and care to improving it inside and out.

In his quieter moments, Dave enjoyed simple pleasures. He loved watching his favorite television show, All in the Family, and never tired of the comedy of The Three Stooges. He also enjoyed cooking, especially grilling—and was known to favor a good steak. Time spent at the beach with his longtime girlfriend, Gail, was particularly special to him. During their visits they made a tradition of enjoying seafood together, and Dave’s favorite treat was fresh scallops.

Above all, Dave will be remembered as someone you could always count on. He had a way of lifting people’s spirits, often knowing exactly what to say at the right moment. Known for his humor and easy laughter, Dave was a kind and generous man—a quiet homebody who loved those close to him deeply. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Felicia Mandigo; girlfriend of 18 years, Gail Gilman; brothers, Rick and Tim Valley; grandchildren, Christy Brown, Kamrin Brown, and Arkoneis Parks; and niece, Ty Valley.

There are no services scheduled at this time. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

ALLENSTOWN- It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Jennifer Letendre — a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, and faithful servant of God — who passed at her home after a brief period of declining health.

Throughout her life, Jennifer faced her own personal struggles with quiet strength and resilience, yet she never allowed them to define her. Even during her most difficult seasons, she remained deeply committed to supporting those around her in every way she could. Whether through a listening ear, a heartfelt prayer, words of encouragement, or simple acts of kindness, she continually put others before herself. Her perseverance, compassion, and determination to grow through life’s challenges were a testament to her remarkable spirit.

Her greatest treasures in life were her children, whom she cherished beyond measure: her beloved daughter, Kiana Letendre and her significant other Stephen; her son, D’Andre and his significant other Kaleigh; and her precious young daughter, Kaleyah. Jennifer’s devotion to her children shaped every part of her life, and she spent each day ensuring they felt protected, guided, and endlessly loved.

Recently, she stepped into her most treasured role yet — grandmother to her precious grandson, Kayce. Becoming “Grandma” brought her a joy unlike any other. She cherished that role deeply and poured her heart into every moment with him.

Jennifer leaves behind her loving parents, Louise and Roland Letendre; her grandmother, Jeanne Letendre; her siblings, Jessica (Nick), Jody (Craig), and Derick (Abby); her cherished nieces and nephews, Kaylin, Payton, Caleb, Avery, Daxton, Rhys, and William; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her precious daughter, Kaleyah, who was welcomed into eternal peace in 2002. Jennifer carried Kaleyah with her and did everything to keep her memory alive. She was also predeceased by her loving grandparents, Gabriel & Cecilia Daneault and Roger Letendre as well as her beloved aunt, Denise Jenness.

Faith was the foundation of Jennifer’s life. She prayed daily, believing wholeheartedly in the power of God’s love and grace. No matter the circumstance, she praised God in everything. She knew life was precious and lived with intention, gratitude, and deep spiritual conviction.

Jennifer’s life was a testament to selflessness, compassion, and unwavering devotion — to her family, to others, and to her Lord. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing her legacy lives on through the love she so generously gave and the faith she so boldly lived. She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 4th from 4 to 6 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5th at 10 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. Burial will take place at a later date. Please consider wearing something pink to the services in honor of Jennifer’s favorite color. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jennifer’s memory to St. John the Baptist Church, 10 School St. Allenstown, NH 03275.
