In this role, the successful candidate will provide thorough and effective supervision of billing staff and ensure prompt and courteous service to clients and patients in the areas of billing, payment posting, and customer service, whether on the telephone or in person.

General Areas of Responsibility

- Supervision of billing staff.
- Maintain performance standards of supervised employees including performance evaluations, discipline, training and development.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels through timely and effective recruitment.
- Lead by example through an expertise in daily operations and billing software application.
- Ensure timely payment of claims from all payers through daily monitoring and prompt follow up.
- Delegation and monitoring of all billing responsibilities including timely claim payment, denial management and posting of patient and client payments.
- Oversight of A/R metrics such as days in A/R, denial rates, cash receipts and aging categories.
- Effective and timely staffing, training, and evaluating employees.
- Guides employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating billing policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
- Maintenance of billing software files and configurations.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.
- Approve and monitor billing expenses.
- Accomplishes billing departmental objectives by measuring billing results against plans; evaluating and improving methods; making required changes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or equivalent, and college education preferred.

Experience: Good computer and keyboard skills; accurate and detail oriented; problem solving; pro-active planning; metric development; good organizational skills and communication skills; The ability to work with other department managers and supervisors; experience with management of staff; Ability to manage work load and empower others.

- Append specific data such as modifiers, payer specific information, including authorization criteria, CPT and ICD-10 code and date of injury (DOI) based on payer specifics, insurance and authorization requirements and referring physicians’ unique attributes.
- Ensure timely daily resolution of any demographic and/or charges submitted lacking necessary information to allow entry.
- Reduce denials by correct use of modifiers, mapping, and linking codes with services.
