Good Morning! No 5:00M for this old guy … I lounged while listening to news (all bad again) till 6:30!
The world is too tense, there has to be some good to report on. With Thanksgiving tomorrow - if I just reeled off all that I am thankful for - my turkey would burn (like the rolls do). That is what I try and do here … find something silly, but fun, to bring a little laughter to my fiends. Laughter is something always to be thankful for.
So here goes … my Word of the Day is CHAIR! Last week I had to put in and order for office supplies to Staples online … and was inundated with pop up sales adds. Most were for things that I didn’t need and probably couldn’t use … until I saw a huge discount on a desk (or in my case counter) CHAIR.
My previous desk CHAIR had broken years ago, and was handily repaired with tape and some fake surface stuff that looked good online (it was not). Every so often the fake surface stuff would come loose and stick to my back as I got up. While it did make me laugh out loud … I knew that it was only a matter of time when the whole CHAIR followed me out in the hall.
So I ordered the heavily discounted CHAIR, and Monday it arrived! (Monday was very busy day with no lunch so Tuesday was assembly day). These types of CHAIRS are easy to assemble and fit into lunch time well. Speaking of fitting - magically the arms on the CHAIR actually fit under the counter. I have to sit lower, but all good.
That silliness is why CHAIR is my Word of the Day!

Good Morning! There was another late night incursion by the DeerBirds last night. Empty feeder, slobber on feeder, and suspicious Hoof Prints in the mulch! I refilled for the morning rush by my real bird friends.
Well, my Word of the Day today is TYNA - my fabulous, wonderful, kind, loyal, overworked, kooky dental assistant and lifelong friend. It has been so long that I don’t remember (lately, yesterday has been a long time for my memory) when we met … we were both working at Q Dental in the 80’s … and clicked immediately. TYNA has escaped my employ several times … but like the movie ‘When Harry Met Sally’ we find each other.
What makes TYNA so great - for starters - she is a very hard worker, kind to all (like her mother), dedicated to the task at hand, irreverent to manager (me), unflappable in difficult circumatance, kookey as some Dentist that we know … and a wonderful person!
Both of us have been known to make up words to fit our desired meaning … and it works for us. Our performance and results have been at the very highest in dentistry for decades … but our goals are not just excellent results … we want you relaxed and somewhat entertained while you are in our care.
As we have aged together (yes I am a bit older), every new day one or both of us are ‘sore’ in some body part. After laughing about it … we get to work, supporting each other as needed physically and mentally! We are like the two ducks in the picture - you can guess who the big duck is!

Good Morning! The evil cold is gone and I am back to normal … well as normal as I get!
Yard work was the big job of the weekend. That, and shopping for Thanksgiving. Maybe this year I will not burn the rolls (to be continued Thursday).
As part of my winterizing; all of the furniture, decorations, and BIRD BATHS went into the sheds. I did leave the grill out (no matter what the weather, sometimes a guy just has to grill something!
While I was on a short break - I noticed that my BIRD friends had converted my grill cover into a BIRD BATH (clever fellows), which made me think that I must find something to give them water over the winter. A fleeting moment of what I could rig up was quickly replaced by - ‘Hey the Birdhouse (on Monroe Ave) will have that!’
So my shopping Friday, will be to see my good friends at The Birdhouse (still on Monroe ave) to use my many gift certificates (thank you all for contributing to my feathered friends well being) and find a winter BIRD BATH.
Oh, and for anyone new to my writings … my Word of the Day is BIRD BATH … and you can tell because it is all in capital letter … oh and it usually isn’t a single word … and it may be mispelled, could contain numbers, and be some group of letter that I made up.

Good Morning! I am a pretty sore old guy today … but my yard is done for the winter … so all is good!
Today’s Word of the Day is a bit somber … because it is - I MISS YOU DAD. On 11/23/2001 my Dad passed away … a long time ago. Now we didn’t always see things the same way, and in my youthful ignorance, I never appreciated what he went through in his life. I knew him as DAD a protector … not understanding that as a Policeman he protected everyone! What a burden that must have been.
There we 4 of us children with needs for cloths, food, roof over head, etc - now that I am a Dad myself - I remember the pressure of when my sons were young … trying to balance being homeDAD for the fun, and being workDAD earning the income to support the family … with little time for rest and recharging. Then of course there is the switch from one to the other - mine not a giant change - his enormous … children-criminals.
We never really talked about things like that, for which now I could be ready to do … so I MISS YOU DAD. I lost the opportunity to learn how to talk about life events and feeling - sorhimg that I would like to do with my son’s, but I don’tknow how.

Good Morning! I popped up like a toaster - without any alarm (at a crazy early hour) because DING D**G - THE COLD IS GONE!
Now that is a much wanted Word of the Day! It has been more that a week that the silly little COLD slowed me down. I just couldn’t do the projects that needed to get done. Today so far I have some laundry going, refilled the feeder (DeerBirds had their snack), and started my list!
A good time for DING D**G - THE COLD IS GONE! so I can pack up the yard, put away the solar lights, check the snowblower for starting and a fruitful trip up paperwork mountain!

Good Morning-ish. Silly cold is still hanging in there …. but is weaker. My energy level has been a bit below zero after an up and down night. Speaking of night - last night to be specific - I just wasn’t up to watching the Bills game …. I tried to listen but just to run down.
Well, I found out this morning that the boys were beaten - Ugg. I used to get stupid angry when the Awesome Buffalo Bills were beaten but even though I always want them to win - there are talented, skilled, well coached teams out there always ready to give their max effort to play these Awesome Buffalo Bills with Josh Allen.
I, for one have been wildly entertained since Josh Allen has come to my beloved team and city - than you Bills. Beyond dazzling plays on the field - Josh Allen has been a beacon of light in representing our humble hard working area. You just don’t hear of a Bills player racing his car and injuring others, or being a bad actor in our area. As Thanksgiving arrives, I am sure that many of these good men will be doing good deeds to the needy in our area without acclaim.
So after this disheartening loss, I still BILLEVE! I enjoyed my coffee in my new Bills cup and will be pulling for them for the rest of this year and the rest of my life. Go Bills!

Good Morning! The evil cold is still hanging on but I will triumph soon!
Today’s Word of the Day is easy … because today is the annual Birthday of my HERO BIG BROTHER TIM! (I know that birthdays are usually annual events - that was the head cold talking).
In the picture TIM is in Bills gear … oh we all are … the one with the hat … hum … ok the handsome one … still not helping … the old looking guy … ahhhh … how about the guy in the lower right corner! He he he
TIM is my Hero because he always knows what to do whenever something needs to be done. He stays level headed and gets to work, all while just being a good guy. He also has really good hair.
So Happy Birthday HERO BIG BROTHER TIM! (being Word of the Day is your present).

Good Morning! I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who sent me a Happy Birthday wish yesterday! At my new and improved age, I forget more than I used to … but I will not forget such a wonderful thing you have done for me.
My fabulous ToothFairies surprised me at our morning meeting, with gifts galore: it turns out that 65 is the ‘Tailgate Birthday’ because I received many fun items to be a grillilicious tailgater. Pictured is my new grilling apron (it is sooo bright that my group will be able to find me when I wander away from the grill); Bills grilling mitt and hot holder … and a gallon plus hot/cold cup - to stay hydrated (I may need several cheerleaders to help me lift it) … topped off with the summary socks - I Must be a Big Dill for so many friends to make such a fuss!
So my Word of the Day is THANK YOU for thinking of me … and making my birthday wonderful.
P.S. the only thing I would like to return, is that silly cold - it has wandered to my sinuses and lungs … I will be starting a Z pack today (pharmacy was closed when I finished last night).

Good Morning! The silly cold is hanging on, and may want to grow into the dreaded ManCold! I am drink a lot of water, taking my DayQuil, and emergenC - but need more sleep. Until this passes I will be the almost voiceless man in the mask!
Well I seem to always have a gazillion projects going, and just relish when I can CROSS ONE OFF OF THE LIST (Word of the Day alert). Home and Office I constantly make LISTS so I don’t forget what has to be done. It seems as though items get added to the LISTS more each day. Well last Sunday I got to CROSS ONE OFF OF THE LIST!
Since the construction for our PrimePrint technology, I have been tinkering with the space to allow Printing projects to be self contained to that space. Yes - that has involved Shelves! First were the closet shelves to store calibrating maintainance tools that don’t need to be used often. Then solid shelves to store the various resins, preparation and clean up tools taking up most of the wall space along with the computer monitor to design what is to be made.
Well once Dr Cohen and Sophia (our printer leaders) fabricate an occlusal guard, resin models, or whatever the dream up - they need a place to keep the patient’s casepan.
Ahhhhh there was no more wall space in the Printer room - a problem to solve!
I decided that there was an unused space right on the doorway to the room itself. So I designed my casepan shelf - could it be wide enough? How many shelves (measure casepans), how to attach it, and will it look ok?
My basement was taken over to cut the wood, paint everything white, brackets etc. what’s one more basement mess! Friday night I finished putting it together and Sunday hung it where it belonged! So CROSS ONE OFF OF THE LIST! On to the next!

Good Morning! My silly cold is still hanging in there. There is no one to speak to here … but I may have lost my voice. (Not cheering the Bills on to victory at the stadium yesterday - if you saw yesterday’s word. Just normal course of events.) the ToothFairies always think it is funny when I lose my voice … and in days gone by Christine would call it “Heavenly” - in her melodic way!
Today’s Word of the Day is CAN YOU SPOT THAT SQUIRREL. Yesterday as I enjoyed the kind-of-dark-rainy porch, I heard a SQUIRREL battle in my mulch. Probably a new guy in town. Then I heard a new sound and looked out to see somthing on my screen (pictures 2 and 3). I couldn’t believe what I saw against the cloudy back ground - so I snapped a quick picture (maybe not that quick - I am not a kid you know). Was it a flying leaves? bat? Bigfoot? - No! It was a very naughty Squirrel! On my screen!
Just like a photo of Bigfoot, it is a little grainy and fuzzy but I know what it is … CAN YOU SPOT THAT SQUIRREL!
This screen hanging will stop!

Good Morning! I have been sitting on my not-too-sunny-yet porch listening to the wind pick up. The silly cold is hanging on and has CRUSHED MY PLANS (grumpy Word of the Day alert).
Today was my yearly Buffalo Bills Home Game. Knowing that it would be late in the year - I spent a Kings Fortune making absolutely sure that we would be under the overhang! Then as the weather grew worse and worse, I picked up a sub tray to our tailgate (no need to light a fire in the wind), and bought a parking spot in the Bills lot -(I thought it was just a rental for the game … but for what I paid … maybe I bought the space!) so my crew wouldn’t need to walk to far. It seemed to be a reasonable chess match with fate … but the silly cold (and my inability to get rid of it) did me in and CRUSHED MY PLANS.
After I made my decision, I started some projects to take my mind off the CRUSHED PLANS. You can see that I got my driveway stakes in (I reinforced the end of driveway guys to stand up to snow piles, snow plows and the trash guys - who did in the last set), cleaned up the yard and finished a shelf of office.

Good Morning! I missed the last few days … just run down enough to get a silly little cold … and grumpy enough to not have anything good to say. As Mom always said “If you don’t have anything good to say - don’t say it”.
Today’s Word of the day is FINISHING UP, as in soon I will suit up and get out in the yard to FINISH UP the winterizing of my yard.
Yesterday I got up on the roof for one more gutter cleaning (Santa like a clear landing pad), and the front lawn before it got too dark. Soon it will be back lawn, and take in patio furniture. Next year I hope to actually use it - and the very heavy fire pit too! For today I will pack them away before the weather gets bad for the rest of the winter. I have a few things in the basement too! So FINISHING UP is a goal! Wish me luck!
Oh and the Spideys have gone in from the sunporch for the rest of the year too!
