Good Morning! Just a quick Word of the Day before I have to zoom off to the old Toothbarn.
Yesterday, I struggled with work volume vs project completion (and old guy tired). I was so whiney that I would be a satellite office for Lisa’s liquor barn!
A little bit of (still evil) paperwork doesn’t compare what so many people, and some of my great friends have been dealing with. My friend Margaret has been fighting stupid cancer (it doesn’t get a capital letter - because I Hate it). I know that all I can do is pray for my friend (yes I believe in the power of prayer, but want her suffering to end now with complete recovery - a Big Ask).
Well this morning, I decided to fetch
the PERK-UP CARDS! Some days when the clouds seem a little thicker - a (really silly) letter by a somewhat crazy old dentist can give you a laugh. (Something that I have a liitle talent for).
So today my Word of the Day is PERK-UP CARDS or just PERK UP - you don’t need special cards, just a pen and paper to make someone’s day a liitle better. The costs of stamps continue to rise, but a small price to pay for a needed smile (you don’t even have to include silly drawings).
When I was alone in college - I relished my trip to the basement of Goodyear hall to see if I had any mail … the joy of a letter is something I never forget!

Good Morning! I have been wearing out a lot faster than I used to … and desperately needed a perk up. Yesterday, I got just what I needed in the form of an email from my wizard Graphic Designer Brien.
Brien has been working on our new office logo. Over the years, I have enjoyed my ‘Smiling Tooth’ logo … and you long termers may remember when I made my monthly Newsletters with different alliterations … pumpkin tooth, football tooth, Santa tooth etc, but it was time to fresh up.
This new fresh logo design that has me so excited, just happens to be my Word of the Day as in HOME-RUN BRIEN!
I have been hit by more baseballs than I have hit … so I am not a good reference for a HOME-RUN, but BRIEN sure is!
Ok Doc … where is it?!!! Well I think somewhere this month will be the official unveiling (he he he - he builds the anticipation) … for today is the picture of the proud old Dad and the fabulous Graphic Designed - who hit the HOME-RUN will have to do (I am the one with the white hair)

Good Morning … well I started thinking about my Word of the Day this Morning … but my rambunctious clock raced to ‘time to go’ time while I was still paying bills.
So I grabbed my well stuffed, trusty SADDLEBACK LEATHER BRIEFCASE that Brien gave me many years ago!
At that time Brien said that SADDLEBACK LEATHER products are guaranteed for 100 years! I still have a way to go to test the guarantee … but so far my BRIEFCASE is the same as when I got it.
So SADDLEBACK LEATHER BRIEFCASE is my somewhat late Word of the Day!

Good Morning! I should be well rested after the weekend … but I don’t feel it. Last night I woke up about every TWO hours … Ugg I looked at the clock and wondered why.
Well maybe because I finished TWO shelf projects over the weekend. Or that I flipped my calendar to February - month TWO. Or that it is day TWO of month TWO!
Of course it could be that I will be fixing a TOOth or Two today. Ha ha ha!
… and that is why TWO is my Word of the Day.

Good Morning! My doctor told me to get more exercise (and my treadmill is still burried) so I am off to the gym. You know … the somewhat early bird get the heavy weight … or something like that.
Yesterday was a Project Day … which meant make PLANS, draw out idea, measure things, redraw idea with measurements, get out tools, reconsider PLANS, get out more tools, consider materials and actual possibilities, alter materials to fit reality - that PLANS overlooked, more tools, start project.
It is all about the process!
Well, my PLAN was initially just to put hooks under the cabinet for coffee cups … sounds simple enough. I found some small hooks to do the job (did you know that coffee cup handles can be different widths … they can), bend hooks, measure site, decide how many cups - and which ones (size matters) drill holes (now that is something I Can do), screw hooks into wood, hang cups - done!
No not really done - the cups blocked the light from the supercool little guys under counter - find more - ooo I have more … find batteries - place - done!
Not so fast - what about the giant T and R cups? They won’t fit … ooo shelf time!
Which meant make PLANS, draw out idea, measure things, redraw idea with measurements, get out tools, reconsider PLANS, get out more tools, consider materials and actual possibilities, alter materials to fit reality that PLANS overlooked, more tools, start project!
By the end of the day Project 1 was done … today is Project 2 - I better get PLANNING - which is why PLANS is my Word of the Day.

Good Morning! No alarm, no need to leave my snuggly flannel kitty’ sheets, and I was totally awake at 5:30am. It must be a PROJECT DAY! Of course a PROJECT DAY that does not involve yard work must involve Shelves!
I have tried to think this little shelf PROJECT through … so I do not have to work in the freezing garage - but I will need to do some sawing - the frozen garage awaits.
Even on PROJECT DAY, one must not forget the birds! The feeder was low, so I crunched some snow getting to the feeder and noticed all of the tracks! I think SuperSquirrel spends his winters in Florida, and the DeerBirds don’t like the spicey … who could it be? The tracks seem to be long ans narrow … maybe I have wayward cross country skiers who like spicey bird food? (solid logic there)
Ii thought that I should stay on the Sunporch, enjoying visits from my bird friends, and watching for these possible snacking skiers, but that room is a freezer!
So it is time to start PROJECT DAY! - which just happens to be my Word of the Day!

Good Morning! I seem to have missed the last two morning’s Word of the Day posts - oops! You don’t have to worry that I have run out of Words … with my generally verbosity (great Word that the nuns taught me when I was in early elementary school - wonder why?) … I just ran out of morning time. Too much early morning paper work, running right into fun lab work, before the start of the day appointments.
Today is doctor day … not as doctor … but as patient. I used to joke with my friend Mr Bold about the -ologists days … now they are more real for me too!
In that vein I have hatched an actual Word of the Day (actually planned for Wed) - IT IS ALL ABOUT THE SHOES. So true for Dorothy, Cinderella, Michael Jordan and now me! For Christmas, Tyna gave me new fancy Doc Crocks! These bad boys were not manufactured to be sooo cool, but bedazzled by Tyna! DOC on one foot and DDS on the other! Which is why IT IS ALL ABOUT THE SHOES is my Word of the Day … you don’t think Tyna did this so I don’t forget what I do at work? Hmmmm

Good Morning! Early Bird gets - a pile of snow … but then a full feeder of delictable spicy bird seed (sorry DeerBirds).
It sure is cold outside … so my Word of the Day is BRRRRR rather than Bird. I had to choose short boots or tall boots - well ‘tall’ won … but sliding feet into frozen plastic was quite a feat (or was it feet-feat?). I did quite an interesting dance putting on and removing … but had dry feet!
Being outside before the sun in my fuzzy robe and frozen plastic defined that BRRRRR would be my Word of the Day!
So bundle up and be safe today … because it sure is cold out there!

Good Morning! Unfortunately my Word of the Day is CLOSED as in due to the nasty weather, and unsafe driving conditions … I decided to CLOSE our little Toothbarn.
Yesterday (before the temps dropped more), I took a trial run to the office … and without other cars on the road … I slide through an intersection. I called (and left messages for those I could not speak to), so no one set out unnecessarily.
Personally, I have been through much worse snow storms (blizzard of 77 in Buffalo - from the snow belt!), but the volume of this snow and the cold just makes travel flat out dangerous.
Dr Cohen, the ToothFairies and I will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs when we can reopen (I plan on tomorrow).
So CLOSED is my sad Word of the Day - I am going out to slay my driveway.

Good Morning! It has been a bit too cold to sit on the Sunporch, so I have been couchbound while trolling all media sources about the storm. This storm with all of its - look what it has done, where is it going, and more importantly how do we prepare - could be my Word of the Day … but that is not fun so I went in another direction.
As I sat on my couch, I noticed a SIGN that I must do something today. You can see in my picture that my little Christmas Tree is still up. While I do like looking at it … I noticed a SIGN from some of its occupants.
The guys under … seem to be staring up wondering ‘Why is this thing still up?’
A very good question … for which I don’t have an answer. So with this SIGN, I have a project for the day … I thought it would be crazy snow by now … so I could make decisions about tomorrow, but I still need more information.
So my Word of the Day is SIGN … I have one SIGN down and am waiting for more.

Good Morning! I am sitting with many new (but not very happy looking) friends at the URMC lab to offer up a bit of blood for an upcoming check up.
It is bright sun, but crazy cold outside there. Don’t be fooled - bundle up!
I have been monitoring the weather as much as I can - and will make a decision about Monday’s office open or closed by mid afternoon. Right now I am leaning hard to closing again. If I had a safe way to transport our ToothFairies and friends we would be fine … and I know that (just like me in scheduling doctors appointments) it is difficult when you juggle time out of work then it gets changed - which is my struggle for today.
So ‘struggle’ could be my Word of the Day; or snow; or cold; or storm … but they are not fun! (Ok snow can be big fun - but in in storm amounts). So my Word of the Day is FUN WITH SNOW or more accurately SOMEONE (RHONDA) TOOK MY PHONE AND HAD FUN WITH A PICTURE - but that is kind of long.
So I hope my modified picture gives you a laugh before the storm arrives.

Good Morning! There were such big plans to pop up like a toaster, and start my non clinical day off organizing my projects for later doing! In two hours I did get my trash toats out to the end of the driveway … oh and I found my watch.
So Productivityis not my Word of the Day!
Projects and Project plans will have to wait, because my actual Word of the Day is LEARNIN’ (remember that my rules are that spelling doesn’t matter).
The Straumann Dental Implant (and more) company has invited me to attend a seminar in Pittsford today. Straumann is a Great Company and I always LEARN a great deal in their lectures. Maybe I will wear my new Christmas present made by my friend Cindy (sneaky way to show off my new shirt).
Oops time to primp for my big LEARNIN’ day!
