This is the face of a tired herbalist!!

Honestly, it hasn't been an easy week.... On top of a difficult month and a half. On top, of course, of a difficult last three years, but that's another story.

There is so much grief in the world right now. Lives are being severed at an excruciating rate. Countries and families and friendships are being severed due to differing stands on what is going on. Our nervous system can get overwhelmed by the constant stream of information through our smart phones, our computers, our TVs.

And have I mentioned yet that someone decided that the light of the day needed to be saved, and stole us of one precious hour of daylight each evening??

When things start to feel heavy, I always turn back towards the plant world and observe what is going on. Right now, the trees are shedding and my garden is getting ready to go to sleep for the winter (with a little help from me).

All around town there is an abundance of Hawthorne berries, Rosehips, and the last courageous flowers to defy the first frosts.

For myself, and for my community, I made a medicine for the Heart (sweep right to see it!).
To keep our hearts open so we can express and receive more love. To keep our hearts open so we can bravely feel our collective grief. To keep our hearts open to let the light in.

It is a gentle elixir made with locally harvested Hawthorne berries and my own garden's roses from this summer.
Sweetened with rose-infused raw honey and preserved with rose-infused brandy. ( Yes I know, alllll the roses! 🌹)
And just the right amount of Bleeding Heart flower essence.

It's starting to look reeeeaaaal cozy out here!

The weather has definitely taken a turn and the leaves are changing color.... the mornings and evenings are chilly and crisp... we've started to wear the first scarves and sweaters! At least here in the foothills of Northern California 😍🍁🍂

It's definitely my favorite season of the year, I feel a perkiness and an excitement that it's not there as much during the other seasons, not even in Spring!

It's also the season when the first colds and flus can hit us ... all those viruses going around (especially if you have kids in school!).

So I hit my home apothecary and I've restocked on some of my favorite seasonal wellness herbal products, and they're available for you as well, might you need support with all the bugs going around 🐛🪲

Shout-out to a magical apothecary, a beautiful mentor and a great artist!

I've been working at .garden since May of last year, and I've loved every minute of it.

Remedy Garden, Nevada City's local herbal apothecary, is a great resource for everyone in need of a healing formula, a tea or tincture blend, and a pletora of useful and cute things from soaps, incense and candles including... some of products!

You will find a selection of some of my skincare products including all four of my Ayurvedic oils, the Body Aches massage oil, the Mama Belly oil and the Baby Bum paste, and we have just restocked with the Mineral Salts Hydrating Body Scrub ☺️

I've really enjoyed working alongside Jahwei, the owner of the apothecary, who has been a great support and mentor this past year as I navigated opening up my small business. She is a well of knowledge and herbal wisdom and I keep learning from her!

This summer, we participated in the Nevada City's Summer Nights Market. Jahwei and her husband Didi, the great hands behind the ceramic studio , hosted me at their boot and we had a great time selling our products together. My gratitude to them!

If you're local, I hope you come to visit me at the shop, where I work on Wednesdays and every other Sunday (and this month, also on Mondays).
We also have a low-cost clinic the first Saturday of each month, where each herbalist who works at the shop takes turns in helping our customers with customized remedies and assistance.

Hello hello, everyone, I'm back after a few months of hiatus!
There is only so much this small-business-owner-lady, herbalist and gardener can do during the busiest season of the year!
I had to take a break from posting here in order to focus on everything my very full life had to offer, and be more present in the moment.

But I do regret a bit not letting you in on all the beauty I experienced, so here I am with this post catching you up on all things.

First of all, in May I got a job at a beautiful local nursery, .pv, where I got to take care of all the plants and incredibly expanded my knowledge of landscaping, gardening, and so on.

Throughout the summer months, I spent a good amount of my time & energies working there (sometimes in 100° weather!) and taking care of my home garden. I grew a lot of healing plants that went into new products for , such as Calendula 🌼, California Poppy, Lavender 🪻, Rose 🌹, Tulsi 🌿, Plantain, Skullcap, Chamomile, and even Hibiscus 🌺!!

Some of these herbs went into one of my latest products, the Gardeners Healing Hand Salve which you can find on my Etsy shop - link in my bio - and also locally at the nursery :)

In my (little) free time, I didn't miss the chance to take a few camping trips up in the Sierra Mountains, where I harvested St. John's Wort and Fir needle tips which went into the new batch of my Body Aches oil 😍

I also participated in the Summer Nights Market, together with Jahwei from .garden apothecary (where you can find me working on Wednesdays and two Sundays a month).

I loved meeting new customers and community members.
It's really been a full Spring and Summer, filled with bustling activity, an expanded sense of community, and lots and lots of time spent in the sunshine ☀️.
The outdoors work also challenged my body beyond what I thought I was capable of, and I now find myself stronger 💪🏼 and better able to care for my garden ❤️

As we slowly shift into Fall, as the days grow shorter and cooler, as I harvest the last herbs and flowers, I am filled with gratitude and wanted to send a warm hello to all of you here. How have you been doing?

I am loving to see my creations out in the world and appreciated by lovers of Ayurveda, self-care, herbalism, slow-living, and wellness... It is such a pleasure and honor to share Urth Herbals products with you all!

Some of the most meaningful connections I have made during my year of training as an Ayurvedic Life Coach with the are transforming into beautiful collaborations and shared sources of inspiration. It's amazing to see my peers go out in the world and come up with incredible offerings that are a gift that keeps giving.

My latest collaboration is with Michelle of Vista Yoga and Wellness. Michelle has created a beautiful community online container called Ayurveda75, in which her clients learn 10 different wellness Ayurvedic-inspired habits over the course of 75 days. I recommend anyone interested to have a look at her program, which feels so nourishing and supportive.

You offered feedback, and we listened. We now offer the oil in two versions - a highly concentrated Vata oil BASE which can be used as is for Nasya and Ear oil or it can be diluted to use for Abhyanga. AND a ready-to-use version in bigger containers, so you don't have to do all the work!

NEW PRODUCTS UPDATE!

Despite the big snow storm that hit Northern California this past week, Spring is around the corner!

I'm working on a new product line of teas, herbal massage oils and concoctions to support the transition from Winter to Spring. Or, to put it in Ayurvedic terms, from Vata to Kapha season!

The first product spotlight goes to this simple yet super effective formula: the Nourishing Roots Coffee Alternative!

At this time of seasonal transition, it can be very beneficial to incorporate practices to nourish our adrenals (which have been working hard all winter to keep us active and awake despite the lack of sunshine) and to detox our liver (which has accumulated metabolic waste and extra fats in the cold weather).

Happy New Year, folks!
I hope you're all keeping warm and cozy out there. We have been having crazy rainstorms in Northern California that brought much needed nourishment to our land, rivers, and water reservoirs... And lots of damage too, unfortunately.

The days are still dark and cold, but a little bit so. Can start to feel the turning of the seasons?
Today, February 1st we celebrate Imbolc in the pagan/Celtic/pre-christian/European indigenous traditions. Imbolc is the middle point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, and a very special moment in which we can feel the tides turning, but are still *deeeeep* into our winter process.

Happy to announce that a small selection of Urth Herbal's natural skincare line is now available at the .garden apothecary in downtown Nevada City!

This is a small but also big step for my at-home, woman owned independent business. I have a big vision for Urth but I also want to start local, from the shops and the people who believe in the quality of the products I create.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me and believed in Urth so far and supported this labor of love and wisdom 🌹

Spotlight on... Happy Cheeks Face Serum!! 💆🏽
I have created this moistening blend last year after some friends asked me what they could put on their face to combat acne, smooth out wrinkles and add radiance to the skin.

I have perfected it over time and now it’s come to the point in which I am a proud witchy mama putting one of my babies out into the world! 🪄

This Face Serum is designed with the sensitive skin in mind, and for those people who struggle with the need to hydrate their face while not overloading the skin with too heavy or oily products.

As many of Urth Herbal’s products, the base for the Face Serum is a beautiful and rich Calendula infused Jojoba oil, which in itself is known to have anti-inflamatory properties that can help ease the effects of eczema and rosacea.
The current batch of organic jojoba oil has been solar infused for over a month with organically grown Calendula I harvested (with permission!!) from the garden at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA! It has all the magic and beauty of that place embedded in its DNA 🌼

To that, I add organic Aloe Vera pulp to bring demulcent, vulnerary (healing to the skin) and more anti-inflammatory benefits to the blend. The Aloe Vera gel is blended with tonifying and moistening organic Rose Hydrosol. 🌿🌹

Then it’s the turn of three amazing oils full of beneficial fatty-acids that are traditionally known (and scientifically proven) to support skin repair, enhance elasticity and the creation of new skin cells, and add some additional antioxidant properties: Rosehips Seeds oil, Vitamin E oil, and Evening Primrose Oil. These oils combined make it so that the Face Serum may help treat acne caused by clogged skin pores, and reduce the appearance of both wrinkles and scar tissue.

To add the cherry on top, every bottle is enriched with just a few drops of my own Essential Oils blend creation which brings a floral, relaxing and sensual scent. 💐

You will feel entranced by how rich and delicate this Face Serum feels! Just a few drops go a long way. Make sure to shake the bottle well before use and if possible, keep the bottle refrigerated for longest shelf life.
