Gratitude 🙏 that’s what is on my mind. Our director Subrenda Helton Huff and our ladies have spent the last week collecting donations and delivering them to those in need. Their travels have taken them all over Lee County. They have delivered backpacks filled with provisions. They have delivered food and water to elderly. They have distributed heaters to those who had none.
Their ability to do all this was because of the overwhelming generosity of their fellow Lee County residents. Friends, family, church leaders and business owners all answered their pleas for help. We want to especially thank M&m wholesale for their support and donations. Please support this business so they can continue to thrive and give back to their community. Pictures are cropped to protect the privacy of those in need. This is a tiny portion of what Higher Ground has done in the last few days to protect those who are unhoused or vulnerable elderly and facing the worst storm in years. Good job ladies ❤️ and good job Lee County for taking care of one another. ❤️

The ladies at Higher Ground Women's Recovery Residence are preparing backpacks for the homeless in the area and distributing them today. Our blessing box at 164 Doris Ave will be in high demand. Staying warm requires more calories. We will be stocking it with food and items to help keep our neighbors from freezing. 🥶 If you have extra items please consider donating. If you are in need please visit our stay safe everyone and look out for one another.

What’s on my mind? Welp too much evidently…. This gal right here, she hit her 1 year sober mark and I missed it! I am pretty proud of her everyday but especially on this occasion! Please help me congratulate her. Thankful for your beautiful soul Syara Andrea today and everyday ❤️ congratulations honey.

We have been really busy at HGWRR! Here are a few photos of what we have been up to. Making ginger bread cookies for friends and family. Decorating the greenbelt ( pole 24) jo ❤️ thanks for the power hook up! Stocking our for those in need. Rehoming animals whose owners abandoned them. Volunteering with Appalachian Sustainable Development - ASDASD and HIS Ministries. Taking warm blankets to the unsheltered before the temperature drop. Decorating for Christmas and a big celebration for Thanksgiving at our residence. Thank you to all our supporters! Without you our work would not be possible.

HGWRR received a blessing the day after starting our ! We were gifted household items from the ladies ://cmmbc.org/ We are so thankful for these ladies and the church. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who contributed. These items were much needed and appreciated.

We are so happy to announce HGWRR has placed a at 164 Doris Ave in Pennington Gap. There you may find a limited number of hygiene items, blankets, and food. There will be donation boxes at locations throughout Pennington gap. Please feel free to reach out to our Director Subrenda Helton Huff if you have items to donate. Also please be kind and only take what you need. We have been the recipients of so much goodwill and kindness, we hope to share it with our community friends for many months to come.
