I just commented on a post saying โwork from home sucksโ and I stand by what I said:โฃ
โฃ
Work from home is amazing for those of us who understand that work is work, coworkers are not your friends, and family is more important than work.โฃ
โฃ
I spent 20+ years in corporate thinking my coworkers were my family. They werenโt. The minute my position was eliminated, those โwork friendsโ disappeared. The company picnics, the happy hours, the birthday celebrations? None of that mattered when they needed to cut costs.โฃ
โฃ
But when my mom needed me? Corporate didnโt care. They wanted me back in the office. Five days a week. Like my real family didnโt exist.โฃ
โฃ
Thatโs when I realized: The office isnโt where community happens. Itโs where you trade your time for someone elseโs profit while pretending the people you sit next to for 40 hours a week are your people.โฃ
โฃ
Work from home didnโt ruin workplace culture. It exposed that most of us never had real workplace culture to begin with. We had proximity. And proximity isnโt the same as connection.โฃ
โฃ
Now I run a coaching business and sell digital products from home. I make peaceful income while being fully present for my mom. I work with clients I actually care about, not people assigned to me by HR. And Iโm building something that serves my life instead of consuming it.โฃ
โฃ
Work from home doesnโt suck. Trading your family for a false sense of belonging at a job that will replace you in two weeks? That sucks.โฃ
โฃ
Which reality are you living in?
