After about 10 weeks of work, our 12th Avenue Pediatrics location has reopened to patients and staff! We remain grateful that nobody was injured in the December accident, and we look forward to having everybody back.

That new face you might see in our Milton office? It's the one and only Dr. Carrie Anderson, who joins us having practiced family medicine for more than 25 years.

“I am committed to providing the best possible medical advice and treatment for all my patients. I especially enjoy discussing lifestyle measures such as diet, exercise and emotional health.”

Dr. Anderson's medical career began in Indianapolis. She earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University Bloomington and attended medical school there as well. She did her residency at St. Francis Family Medicine (now Franciscan Health Indianapolis) in Beech Grove, Ind.

Dr. Anderson and her husband moved to the Milton/Pensacola area in 2021.

When not working, she loves “tending to my garden and landscaping, getting a brisk walk at the beach, and just enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.”

We're here to help moms-to-be any way we can. That means traditional prenatal visits, of course, where we help make sure everyone is healthy and on track. But we wanted to do more.

Our Baby Bucks program helps prepare moms for the sheer amount of *stuff* that newborns need. Clothes. Strollers. Carseats. An endless amount of diapers. Moms earn "Baby Bucks" with each prenatal visit, and those Bucks can be spent at our Baby Bucks store at our Jackson Street location.

Healthy mom. Healthy baby. And a little thank-you from us to make those first few days, weeks and months just a little easier.

Community partnerships are a HUGE part of what we do, and that's very much apparent at Pine Forest High School - Pensacola, Florida.

Thanks to our partnership with Children's Home Society of Florida and the Escambia Children's Trust we've been able to have a clinic *at* Pine Forest, making it super easy for students and parents to get the care they need, where they need it. (Much like what we also have at C.A. Weis Elementary School.)

It was great to see an example of the success of this partnership today at the Children's Trust meeting.

The 340B program — which allows organizations like ours to offer prescription drugs at a lower price — has been extremely important for our patients for years. As CEO Chandra Simmons Smiley writes today in the Pensacola News Journal, its continued funding is imperative to ensure that we're able to serve anyone and everyone who needs healthcare. That's our core mission, and 340B is a major tool in serving our patients.

Legislation that enables healthcare organizations like Community Health to buy prescription drugs at a discounted is at risk. The loss would be devastating.

Today is National Wear Red Day, meant to help raise awareness for cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death among women. According to the National Institutes of Health, heart disease took an average of 321 women in Escambia County from 2019 to 2023. A bit of good news, however, is that the average has been trending down.
