A huge thank you to the amazing faculty and staff of Richwoods High School for an amazing first GYT of 2026!

Shout out to all of our vendors—Acorn Equality Fund, Advanced Medical Transport, Carle Health In-School Health, Center for Prevention of Abuse, Chestnut Health Systems, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, Heartland Health Services, Hult Center for Healthy Living, IL Human Performance Project, ImpactLife, Peoria City/County Health Department, Peoria Promise Foundation, RiverPlex, PFLAG Peoria Public Space, Positive Health Solutions, and Trillium Place. What an amazing showing of our local social service organizations touching the vast and varied lives of our young people!

Events like GYT would not be possible without the support of our volunteers and Heart of Illinois United Way who helps to connect us with them.

Today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a day which centers the systemic inequities in care faced by black communities.

At Friends we and our partners in the community and at other organizations work tirelessly to dismantle the barriers that create these inequities.

When we get tested early and often, take advantage of prevention methods like PrEP and condoms and promote empathy and understanding we can destroy stigma and create a more equitable tomorrow.

The ASALH has declared 'A Century of Black History Commemorations' as the theme of this year's Black History Month.

We hope you will join us this month (and all year) in honoring the achievements of black individuals in shaping American culture. Whether it's the music we listen to, the words we say, the games we play, or the clothes we wear, the foundations of what the world views as American come from black folks.

Happy Black History Month, Central Illinois! Now and forever, Friends. ❤️💛💚

Congratulations to Equality Illinois on another successful Gala!

The Friends team is so proud to represent our downstate q***r population along with other amazing advocacy organizations like Peoria Proud and Prairie Pride Coalition.

And of course we cannot forget to shout out Dave Bentlin, this year's Freedom Award Honoree, Prairie Pride Coalition's President, and an all around amazing and kind human!

We're so proud of Dave, and are so excited to continue our work of spreading equity and acceptance to all of our downstate communities.
