"Back in 2021, I was diagnosed with Stage 3A Triple Positive Breast Cancer. No family history at all, so it was a total shock.

It all started with a clogged duct, then mastitis. Eventually, after running so many tests and biopsies, the results said it was breast cancer. I was in disbelief upon hearing the news but I kept my faith and I fought to live for my family - especially my daughter. She had just turned a year old when we found out I had breast cancer.

It was a sad journey but very empowering at the same time.

I did all the treatments needed to survive the disease and now I am a Breast Cancer Survivor."

We are glad to share that the much maligned USPSTF 2016 recommendations are being walked back: Mammograms are recommended to start at age 40 not 50.

The US Preventive Services Task Force is proposing that all women at average risk of breast cancer start screening at age 40 to reduce their risk of dying from the disease, according to a new draft recommendation statement.

Important Update:

United Healthcare now refusing to pay appropriate rates for the newer, better tolerated DIEP flap for breast cancer reconstruction. They will only pay the plastic surgeon for the older, lower reimbursed TRAM flap rates, despite the DIEP taking more time, more training and being better for patients.

Please contact your local representative because all the private payors will follow suit and plastic surgeons will stop offering this wonderful technique for reconstruction.

Due to continued concerns regarding novel coronavirus, the Comprehensive Breast Center of Arizona has instituted enhanced health screening for our patients and staff. Our staff has been educated by our infection control team in regards to enhanced cleaning of the rooms between each patient and at the end of the day.

You may also be asked to conduct your visit via Tele health technology or to reschedule at a later date. We may also request that family or friends accompany you to your visit remain outside the office. This is being done to protect you, our patients with chronic illness or who may be immunosuppressed while on cancer treatment and of course our staff.

Some of our offices may have reduced hours but please be assured that one of our surgeons is on call 24/7 to assist with any urgent needs. We appreciate your understanding and compassion during these challenging times.
