I still have a few openings for my postnatal fitness class that is returning to Inspired Maternity this week!

Tuesday & Thursdays 9:30-10:30 starting this week!

8 weeks of exercise classes that cover the most important key areas to restore postpartum while progressing with exercises for entire core and body workout!

Mommas will receive nutritional advise and functional exercises to complete at home between classes and progressing over the 8 weeks!

*babies and toddlers are welcomed and we will incorporate and adapt exercises with them to make these classes and workouts realistic for moms

🗣️ Postpartum Fitness Class is returning to Inspired Maternity next week!

I am hosting an 8 week postpartum fitness class that helps mothers in the key areas that MUST be addressed as they return to exercise and for any physical activity!

Classes will consist of breathing, mobility, and strengthening. Everything we do will address our entire core area!

Moms will receive nutritional advice and weekly exercises to work on at home that are functional and realistic for their schedules.

*Babes and young toddlers are welcome, please just let Dr. Ashley know ahead of time. We will adjust exercises to include babes and young toddlers as possible! Bouncers, toys etc are available to help keep them occupied as well.

Join us for an 8-week fitness journey designed to help you return to your fitness routine postpartum at our studio. Dr. Ashley will lead moms through her experienced key areas all moms need to address in order to successful return to exercise postpartum. Best suited for moms 6 weeks- 5 years pp.

Remember don’t hold your breath during strength training! Of you are during a heavy lift….. you may be lifting too much weight if you can’t manage your breathe! Especially pp- don’t want to set up for prolapse, pelvic floor or back issues.

One thing I strive to help moms postpartum understand is your healing takes time! It’s well beyond the “6 week postpartum check.”

I also help moms understand that exercise in that first year does not always mean or look like setting aside uninterrupted time to get “a full workout in.”

Working on improving our spine mobility, 360 breathing breathing and connecting that with simple movements…. Even for shorter periods of time can make a significant and positive impact for your body and core to heal!

My house is a mess, my hair is a mess and my older daughter needs attention.

I make it work and love my daughter asks me to “exercise.” Even a few minutes BUT with the right form, breathing and mindful body awareness heals your body and improves your mood!

The house is a mess.

I am not in workout clothes.

Kids are home.

It may only be a few reps or switching between upper body and lower……

Kids are talking to me and baby crawling on me….

But a few reps and concentrating on form, breathing and feeling core and breath connect….. is all it can take.

Postpartum “exercise” and core work can and does look different.

Part of my work is helping moms postpartum, break the stereotypical “what does exercise have to look like” and making small realistic but mindful work fit into their crazy, messy days.

Changing this mindset can help you heal significantly!

Learning how to functionally move, knowing how to engage your core and even learn about your hip mobility, mobility of SIJ and lower back can make this activity more enjoyable!

Building a strong core is more than just learning how to contract your TA, deep corset, muscle.

👉 Is your diaphragm contracting downward on your inhales to help with good core pressure management?

👉 Is your rib cage angle still widened from pregnancy or maybe is it too narrow? This can effect deep abdominals from engaging properly leaving you with pouching appearance still.

👉 Are you performing exercises in good rib and hip alignment or are you compensating without even knowing?

👉 Are your external obliques engaging? If you have wider rib cage angle still, they most likely are not working for your core benefit!

👉 What’s going on below- pelvic floor? Experiencing leakage or feelings of heaviness with certain exercises?

👉 Are you able to feel your glutes and engage hamstrings appropriately?

👉 Do you think about hip flexors and adductors (inner thighs)? I find quite often our hip flexors are kicking in and doing a lot of the work still and adductor weakness needs to be addressed postpartum! They play an integral role in hip function and effect core strength balance.

Although by the look on one, I think we learned how to play hookie already 🧐🤦‍♀️😂
