And that starts with what you do for your hips right now.

Here are the first three of five essential hip exercises I give every patient who wants to stay active, mobile, and pain free for the long haul:

🦡 Hip Flexion: Lie on your side, bottom leg straight, toe pointing up, raise the top leg. 10 reps, 3 sets. Front of the hip.

🦡 Hip Extension: Same position, leg straight, bring it back behind you. All motion from the hip down - no upper body swinging. 10 reps, 3 sets. Back of the hip.

↔️ Hip Abduction - standing, holding a chair for stability, leg straight out to the side. Here's the bonus: your stabilizing leg is working just as hard. You're training both hips simultaneously. 10 reps, 3 sets. πŸ’ͺ

Symmetry isn't just good practice - it's how you keep your hips balanced and your body moving the way it was designed to.

The next stretch I love for hip pain before bed is trunk rotation - and it's one of the best kept secrets for both hip AND low back relief at the same time. πŸ™Œ

Lie on your back. Feet together. Knees together. Then slowly rotate both knees to one side. Feel that gentle release through the hips and low back. Then the other side.

That's it. Simple. Effective. And incredibly relaxing right before sleep. πŸŒ™

Hip pain keeping you up at night? This stretch before bed is a game changer. πŸŒ™

The hip flexor is one of the most overlooked muscles driving hip pain - and it gets chronically tight from sitting, walking, and everything in between.

Here's how I stretch it before bed:

One leg up on the bed. The other foot forward on the floor. Chest upright.

Then gently lower your hip toward the bed until you feel that deep stretch in the front of the hip. No pain - just a good release. Hold it. Then switch sides. 🦡

Do this every night before you get under the covers and your hips will go to sleep in a completely different state than they woke up in.

Motion is lotion - even at bedtime. πŸ’ͺ
