Vision Therapy Success! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œWe are so grateful for vision therapy! Jack found reading to be so difficult, and often said it was hard for him to follow lines and grids. His vision tested 20/20 and when his teacher recommended vision therapy, we wondered if that was the missing piece. After working with Mrs. Kim, Jack’s reading improved drastically over time…but more than that, he was so much less discouraged at school, and his end of day headaches disappeared. Physically, he was less tense and at ease in his own body – we’ve seen him grow and settle in so many ways. Many thanks to the staff that made Jack feel welcome and at home. He enjoyed the process and has missed it since he graduated.”

Last week we had a retirement party for our sweet vision therapist Kim! Kim has been a wealth of knowledge, organization, & support for our vision therapy team. Helping many children & adults while here, we are going to miss having Kim here. We celebrated her last day going out to lunch as a team & shared many laughs!

Employee Spotlight: Gabby πŸ’‘
1. How long have you been working at VCC. Almost a year. Job title -optician/ tech
2. What is your favorite part about working for VCC? My amazing coworkers, (my vcc family).
3. What is something interesting you’ve learned about eyes? One interesting thing I’ve learned about eyes is that each person’s iris pattern is an unique as a fingerprint- even identical twins have different ones. It’s fascinating how much individuality is contained in such a small part of the body.
4. What is your favorite way to spend a free Sunday? I like to spend my Sundays outside with my kiddos and friends. We love to hang our hammocks or play basketball/ baseball/ soccer.
5. What is the most rewarding part of your job? The most rewarding part of my job is making a special connection with patients. I love when they come back in and walk right up to me smiling and saying "hello Gabs."
6. What is a skill that you feel you have grown since being at your job? At Vision Care Center, I have learned a lot of new special testing that can be done to help with dry eye syndrome.

Employee Spotlight: Tessa! πŸ’‘πŸ€©
1. How long have you been working at VCC? For one year as an optometric technician.
2. What is your favorite part about working for VCC? The patient interaction and meeting new people almost everyday. I especially love working with the little ones.
3. What is something interesting you’ve learned about eyes? That our eye muscles play a huge role in our visual clarity and focus. The stronger they are, the better stamina our eyes have throughout the day.
4. What is your favorite way to spend a free Sunday? I like to start the day with a Pilates or yoga class, grabbing brunch and catching up with friends, then going home and relaxing for the day and prepare for the week.
5. What is the most rewarding part of your job? Making a positive impact on the patient and their day to day lives. I love being able to work with our patients to hopefully improve their vision and their quality of life.
6. What is a skill that you feel you have grown since being at your job? Task management. I have learned to effectively take on tasks without overloading myself and complete them successfully, which has also helped in my life outside of work!
