"My parents have lived many years at Freedom PLAZA, and have experienced independent living, assisted living, and now memory care. My mom is now over 100 and doesn't miss an opportunity to tell me how blessed she feels to live there. She knows all the staff and they know her. "I attended the Miles for Minds event on November 18, 2025. The event was very well organized. We walked all around the facility and were given a bead for every lap. It was very cute and incentivized the exercise. It was great to mingle with the residents. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Freedom Plaza Peoria was designed, built and originally operated by Robert Roskamp, senior living pioneer and philanthropist. He formed Freedom Plaza Limited Partnership (FPLP) in 1987 and teamed up with Sun Health, an Arizona senior living and community health non-profit organization in a joint venture that strengthened the ownership group.
“Freedom Plaza was the first Life Plan community of its kind”, said Mr. Roskamp. “I’m proud to have led the development of such a strong and vibrant sector of the senior living market.”
FPLP has retained continuous ownership of the Freedom Plaza campus, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing. In April, 2018, the Arizona Department of Insurance granted FPLP’s wholly-owned subsidiary a permit to manage the Freedom Plaza campus, previously managed by Brookdale.
