Congratulations to Dr Varshini Thiruvadi on being awarded the Mary Draeger Schultz Patient Safety Award 2025!!! Dr Thiruvadi’s QI project to improve the use of antibiogram by the residents when prescribing antibiotics to impact antimicrobial stewardship won her this scholarship. Way to go, Varshini! We would also like to recognize our chief resident Dr who mentored her on this project!

We had our first Journal Club of the year this October with .sbn presenting the DIGIT-HF trial! Perspectives from our experienced and budding cardiologists made for an interesting discussion amongst the residents. We are excited to see digitoxin back in the game and are waiting for the DECISION trial with bated breath! Dinner, drinks and a birthday were welcome additions :D

Today, we celebrated the graduation of our outstanding Transitional Year residents, whose dedication and teamwork have been invaluable to our Internal Medicine program. Their contributions have strengthened our patient care, enriched our learning environment, and left a lasting impact on our residency. We wish them all the very best in their advanced programs and future endeavors!!!

Dr Keerthana Sivakolundu, our clinicopathologic case conference winner, presenting Internal Medicine Grand Rounds. She did a fantastic job navigating the audience through this complex case of multidrug resistant and difficult to treat pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteremia presenting with echthyma gangrenosum in a patient immunocompromised due to cirrhosis and underlying hematologic malignancy. Great teaching points throughout and we all left the session feeling enlightened and intellectually stimulated!!
