Can you believe Christmas is just 6 weeks away? While we start to plan our own celebrations, we invite you to help others who may struggle during the holidays. Lakes Dental Care will be collecting Toys for Kids now through December 17th. Toys must be new and unwrapped.

Toys for Kids is a community service program sponsored by Heartland Detachment Inc., Marine Corps League. PO Box 1053 Brainerd, MN 56401.
Your tax deductible gift will be used to assist families in local communities.

Who remembers this blast from the past?? Beanie babies were a hit in the 90's and they are making a come back at LDC as we introduce our No Cavity Club! Starting this month, kids that have no cavities at their check up will be entered into a drawing. At the end of each month, we will give away 2 beanie babies (1 for each office). Keep up the good brushing and flossing for your chance to win!

Did you know cavities are the most common chronic disease of childhood in the United States? The good news is that tooth decay is preventable and caring for your children's oral health can be simple. As school quickly approaches, implementing a dental hygiene routine will greatly reduce your child's risk of decay.

Here are a few important things to keep in mind and consider incorporating into your child's oral care routine:

Dental sealants can prevent cavities for many years. Applying dental sealants to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth prevents 80% of cavities.

For kids, brush their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Help your child brush their teeth until they have good brushing skills. If your child is younger than 6, watch them brush. Make sure they use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste and always spit it out rather than swallow.

For babies, wipe gums twice a day with a soft, clean cloth in the morning after the first feeding and right before bed to wipe away bacteria and sugars that can cause cavities. And when teeth come in, start brushing twice a day with a soft, small‑bristled toothbrush and plain water.
