Headline: Help Us Keep the Tradition Alive! 👮‍♂️🎁

For over 14 years, the Perry Police Department has had the privilege of taking deserving local children on a holiday shopping spree through our Shop with a Cop program. It is one of our favorite days of the year, building bonds between officers and youth while ensuring kids in need have a bright holiday.

We need your help this year more than ever.

We know our community is hurting. The recent hurricanes and business closures have left a mark on all of us—families and businesses alike. Because of the storm's impact on our local economy, our usual fundraising efforts have fallen short.

We are calling on everyone to help us ensure the recent hardships don't steal the joy of the holidays. We work with organizations to nominate children ages 7–11 who have faced hardships or shown outstanding citizenship.

How You Can Help: The Perry Police Department runs this program entirely on donations. Since we are a department of the City, every penny goes toward the event.

🎄 Shop with a Cop: Behind the Scenes 🎄
As we prepare for our annual shopping event at Walmart, we wanted to share how this program comes together!
1. Who gets to go? Children ages 7-11 are selected to participate.
2. How do I sign my child up? The Perry PD does not take sign-ups. We rely on the experts—local teachers and the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Florida—to nominate children they know have a true need. Selected children receive an official letter in the mail!
3. Who pays for it? Your neighbors! Funding comes entirely from donations by local businesses, civic orgs, and community members. The more funding we get, the more kids we can invite.
4. Can parents help shop? We actually discourage parents from walking the aisles. We want the kids to have total independence to pick what they want (within budget) alongside their helper! To ensure the kids get to choose gifts without influence, parents and guardians remain in a waiting area while the shopping fun takes place. It is a day purely for the kids!
