Living a healthy life doesn't mean living a boring life.

You can still enjoy desserts, even if you workout regularly & eat healthy the majority of the time.

The key word is enjoy, not over indulge.

One cookie after dinner instead of the entire pack while you're lying in bed.

Pay attention to:

Portion control.

Serving sizes.

Moderation.

I started working out for myself.

To improve my health, and yes, for aesthetics, because I was unhappy with the way I looked.

What started as a weight loss journey became a lifestyle and eventually a whole new career.

Now, I workout for bigger and better reasons.

I do it for my quality of life.

I do it so I can show up for my family.

I do it so that I can take my kids on vacation and get out there and do all the things with them.

My kids love it when I climb 4 flights of stairs to go down a water slide with them & when I do a ropes course with them to see who can do it faster.

Lifting weights isn't just about me anymore. It's about being the mom they need me to be.

Knowing that they know I CAN do these things is all the motivation I need to keep going.

Roll into the weekend with fun ways to stay active.

This is a great time to get the whole family involved.

Your kids are always watching, whether you realize it or not.

So you might as well teach them healthy habits while you can.

And one good way to do that is to plan a fun, active event for you to do together.

My family and I like to go bowling, skating, and go on bike rides or walks in the park.

Bonus if the park has outdoor fitness equipment because my kids have a blast on those things!

This or That: Morning or Afternoon Workout?

I usually prefer morning workouts.

Getting my workout done early boosts my productivity all day.

If I don't do it early, I end up dreading it and constantly thinking about when I will get it done.

If I knock it out first thing in the morning, it's one less thing on my mind all day.

Crossing my workout off my checklist makes me feel like I achieved one big goal for the day.

I do it for the mental clarity, as much as I do it for the physical benefits.

Fruit is always a better option than processed food loaded with added sugars.

Fruits contain natural sugars, which is a much better choice.

Fruit will not make you gain weight.

Eating crap WILL.

However, anything with sugar should be eaten in moderation.

So, no you should not eat this giant bowl of grapes in one sitting.

Eating 2 servings of fruit day is good for you.

Fruit is loaded with vitamins & nutrients that your body needs.

Cookies, cake, & candy are not.

Make good choices.

My 1st ever 5K was for a good cause and was so much fun!

I didn't train and I wasn't trying to win.

The only reason I did this was to support my friend and his family over the tragic loss they have suffered.

I walked with my best friends, enjoyed their company, and got some good exercise on a Saturday.

It was such a blessing to be able to participate in this event.

I enjoyed it so much that I am considering doing more.

And maybe I will train for the next one...and actually do some running, who knows! 🏃🏼‍♀️

I absolutely HATE being cold and I am beyond O-V-E-R this cold weather!

However, I LOVE sunshine!

So, no matter how much I want to stay on my couch under a heated blanket, I get up and go outside.

Even in the cold.

Because I know if I don't, I will regret it, start getting sad, and then spiral into a whirlwind of negative thoughts.

Yes, I would rather be in my pool, but until then, I'll take my walks in the sun.

If you're feeling a little blue, try going out in the sun, no matter how much you don't want to.

Even if it is just for 15-20 minutes, I guarantee your mood will immediately be boosted!

Enjoying treats here and there won't make you gain weight.

Eating garbage for breakfast, lunch, & dinner will.

Make healthy choices as often as possible, but you don't have to be so restrictive.

If you're choosing lean meats, fruits, & veggies 80-90% of the time, there's room left for your favorite treats.

Now, stop feeling guilty for having dessert and keep moving forward!

Sending you some Meal Prep Motivation on this Manic Monday!

A few tips I can share that always saves me time when meal prepping:

1️⃣Wash & cut all fruits & veggies as soon as you bring them home from the store. Not only does this save time, you're more likely to actually eat them instead of letting them rot in the fridge.

2️⃣Make a big batch of rice with a rice cooker. You can throw it in & leave it til it's done. Meanwhile, you can work on your meat & veggies.

3️⃣Make 2-3 days worth of the same foods, but find different recipes to try so you don't get bored with the same foods every day.

Now, head on over to your kitchen & get to work!
