There's a reason I have most of my clients do a Total Body Workout during their biweekly personal training sessions.

It's to ensure that all of their muscles get worked out with an equal amount of attention.

Most of them only workout the 2 days they are with me and I have to make sure that is all they need to make progress towards their goals.

We do that by working multiple muscle groups at each session.

One day is for the Push muscles (shoulders, chest, triceps + obliques) and one day is for the Pull muscles (back, biceps + core).

Yes they have a love/hate relationship with me 😆, but they trust me, even when they think I'm killing them. 🤣

And you know what? They're all making EXCELLENT progress!

How often are you splitting your workouts?

Are you getting enough protein or too much protein?

I read an article recently about a man who was OVEReating protein and hit a plateau on his fitness goals.

He was AVOIDING carbs at meal times....WHAAAT?!

Why? Because he was listening to fitness influencers.

And guess what, y'all? He wasn't building any muscle!

Then he hired a personal trainer and learned to eat carbs to fuel his body and not just fill his body with protein.

Yes, it is true that some people don't eat enough protein daily, but sometimes once they start, they go overboard.

It's all about finding the proper balance for YOUR body and YOUR goals.

Men and women need different things.

Other factors play a role also, such as age, weight, & height.

It's also important to know if you're trying to lose weight or gain muscle.

It's about balance.

And if you don't know how to do that, give me a holler & I'll help ya out!

This might be my new signature pose. 😆

Hubby told me to flex, and well,...💪🏼

There once was a time that I hated upper body workouts, my arms were not muscular, and I didn't care if they were. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Until one day, something shifted.🤩

I wanted all the muscle, everywhere.👊🏼

And I fell in love with my upper body workouts. 😍

Maybe not as much as my core workouts, nothing will ever top that. 🥰

But, I found the love for them, nonetheless. 🫶🏼

Now, excuse me while I get to my back & biceps workout. 💥

What muscles can I help you build?🏋🏼‍♀️

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for:

1️⃣A thriving business that allows me to be my own boss.

2️⃣The ability to move my body on a daily basis, remaining the healthiest version of myself as I age.

3️⃣A nutritious diet that allows me to eat whatever I want on occasion.

4️⃣The strength to be an advocate for my neurodivergent children.

5️⃣A husband that supports all of my goals and dreams.

6️⃣Iced coffee... Because I'm obsessulated.

7️⃣Amazing friends all over the world.

8️⃣My tight knit family. We love each other unconditionally and help each other through the hard times, like when we lost so many of our family members in the last several years.

They say it takes a village, but how often are you actually relying on your tribe when you need them?

I am definitely guilty of trying to do everything myself.

I'm learning, slowly, that it's ok to ask for help when I need it.

Do you know why? Because I have these ladies that I know will always be there when I need them.

And I am always here for them in return.

No matter how hard we try or how much we want to always be in control, sometimes we have to let go and allow others to help.

Self care means allowing others to do things for you.

It isn't self care if you're always doing all the work yourself.

Loosen the reigns and let your people in.

Trust me, they are happy to help because they need you just as much as you need them.

This is your reminder to change for good.

BE KIND.

Last week, a post about Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo popped up in my news feed and I was appalled by it.

This guy that does not know these ladies was completely blasting them for their weight and their friendship.

Body shaming IS NOT COOL, whether the person is, from your perspective, overweight or underweight.

I'm pretty sure Cynthia could beat the living daylights out of that guy.

Would he say the same thing if she was on stage for a bodybuilding competition? I doubt it.

You have no idea what they may be going through behind the scenes.

Health issues, pressures of Hollywood, or maybe they're completely happy with the way they look.

GOOD FOR THEM! Stay strong and confident in your bodies, ladies!

As far as their friendship goes, I'd keep Cynthia by my side in a heartbeat. She is fierce and protective of her friend.

And since when did it become "weird" for women to have this kind of close friendship?

It almost seems rare in Hollywood and I love to see it.

Women should ALWAYS support each other.

What will you do to change for good this week?

Walking 10 miles every day didn't phase me one bit.

It didn't make me sore anywhere or tired at all.

You know what did make me hurt and tired?

Sitting for 4 hours straight in a stadium seat at the Texans vs Titans game.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoyed cheering on the Texans with my hubby, but it made me forever grateful that I don't have a sedentary job.

My back was so sore after that game, but as soon as I got up and moved, I felt soooo much better!

I got a first hand experience of what it would be like to have a desk job.

I say it over and over and I will keep saying it. It is so important to MOVE YOUR BODY.

The more you move, the less pain you will have.

The better you will feel.

And the more energy you will have.

How often are you getting up from your desk and moving every day?

Dress to impress and dress in what makes you feel comfortable! 💃🏼

I don't care that I'm 42, as long as I work for these guns, I'm gonna show them off! 💪🏼

I bought this dress while we were in Chattanooga last month, with the intention of wearing it on our weekend getaway to Nashville this past weekend.

And that is exactly what I did!

I LOVE that I am 42 and feel confident enough to go out on the town in a strapless dress.

This is ONE reason why I workout.

Because I want to look good and feel good in clothes like this.

But no, it's not JUST about looks for me.

It's also about improving my quality of life.

I was able to handle walking around for miles in these boots because I workout.

I didn't run out of breath or get tired or end up in extreme pain at the end of the night.

I am blessed and thankful that I was able to ENJOY every step of this mini vacay with my hubby!

What outfit makes you feel like a strong & confident woman?

This is what happens when a personal trainer goes on vacation. 🤣

I was looking forward to eating this doughnut as soon as we got to Nashville!

After our unexpected 5 mile hike through the mountains, I told my hubby that we earned this treat.

I RARELY eat treats like doughnuts, but when we go on vacation, I ALWAYS have a treat of some kind.

And I don't have to feel guilty about enjoying it either.

Why? Because my nutrition is very well balanced on a regular basis.

I don't eat junk every day.

I take care of my body and I allow room for treats when I want them.

As soon as I saw the S'mores Doughnut, I knew it was the one for me! 😍

This doughnut was worth every single bite.

AND

Every. Single. Calorie.

Reason #2,351 why you should NEVER SKIP LEG DAY.

My hubby and I went on a mini vacation to Nashville, TN over the weekend.

On the way, we decided to stop in Chattanooga for a hike and to eat our lunch.

We thought it was going to be a short, easy hike
to a waterfall.

It. Was. Not. 😆

It was quite dangerous and sketchy for a while, but it was a GREAT workout!

It was one way to move our legs halfway through a 5 hour road trip and it was an experience to remember.

It was only the beginning of an unexpected 3 day Glutes & Hammies Boot Camp.

I wish I would have taken more videos of this crazy trail, but check back in later this week for the one video I did get...you won't be disappointed!

What's the craziest hiking trail you've ever done?

Today is one of the hard days, y'all.

It's my Daddy's birthday and Heaven doesn't have a direct line.

I am one of the lucky girls in the world to have had such a wonderful father.

I know that I am blessed because I know many women who cannot say the same.

My daddy was ALWAYS my #1 fan, always cheering me on, whether I was cheering at a football game or competition, singing in the chorus, learning to drive, starting a new career, or getting married & having babies.

He was loving, encouraging, and ALWAYS supportive.

He was kind, funny, and the most selfless man I have ever known.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm SO thankful for the fitness world that has helped me stay connected to him.

He was a powerlifter and I'm a bodybuilder.

I know He is proud of me and every achievement I have made in the realm of bodybuilding and fitness.

Happy Birthday Daddy. I hope you are having the most extraordinary celebration possible with the rest of our loved ones.

🙌🏼Thankful Thursday:

✅Keeping your priorities in check:

1️⃣GOD.

2️⃣FAMILY.

3️⃣YOU & YOUR HEALTH.

✅While working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important and should always be in the top 5 on your priority list, it is vital that you do not let it completely consume your life.

❌Don't choose the gym over your family.

❌Don't skip prayer for a workout.

✅If a family affair interferes with your workout, be flexible and shift your schedule around.

✅The gym will still be there. Your family could be gone in an instant, trust me. (Ask me how many close family members I Iost within a few short years).

🙌🏼God will take care of you, if you trust in Him. Be thankful for the time you are with your family and not in the gym & He will most certainly provide you with the time you need to focus on your health.
