As a personal trainer, I like to challenge myself from time to time.

As I was writing out a core workout for a client one night, I came across the L-sit in one of my books.

I have never tried this move before and I really thought, "I think I can do that!"

Real talk: does any ACTUALLY ENJOY doing Bulgarian Split Squats?

For me, it is HANDS DOWN my LEAST favorite exercise of ALL TIME.

However, I do put them in my workouts every now and again.

The exercises we hate the most, and tend to avoid, are usually the ones we need to do more.

That's what I do for my clients. I make them do the hard stuff. The moves they would avoid if I wasn't there to hold them accountable.

Doing simple exercises all the time won't challenge you and won't help you progress.

So, the next time you decide to skip those Bulgarian Split Squats, remind yourself how much stronger they will make you.

And you don't have to do them forever. That reminder helps, too.

Do you work from home, sitting at your desk for hours on end?

Set an alarm to take a 10 minute ab break so you can move those muscles and keep them strong.

Not only do these moves work your core, they also stretch your spine, which is much needed when you have to sit all day.

And not just any Monday....

The first Monday after Daylight Savings.

The kids are off to school and you're already out of bed, so as much as you want to go back to bed, FIGHT!

FIGHT for YOUR health and MOVE.

Your form of movement may not look like mine & that is ok.

Go for a 20 min walk, search my page for quick & easy at home workouts, or go up & down your stairs 3 times.

Doing SOMETHING does more for your health than going back to bed and doing NOTHING.

He's a bit of a liar and can't always be trusted.

Scales are like bad boyfriends, all they do is ruin your mascara.

Go ahead and dump him now and thank me later.

Start a healthy relationship.....with a measuring tape, pen, & paper.

They will never lie to you.

Like any good boyfriend will do, they'll only smear your lipstick, not your mascara.

"I just don't have time to workout." I don't know how many times I have heard this excuse, but I'm done listening to it.

I just want you to shift your mindset. Instead of saying, "I don't have time to exercise," say, "Ok I have to find 20 minutes in this day to MOVE."

The next time you find yourself just sitting on the couch watching TV or scrolling social media, get up and do these 4 Calf Raise Variations.

You can even do them while you're doing every day household tasks, like folding laundry or cooking dinner.

Stop using the excuse that you don't have time.

You do have the time, you just have to look for it in the right place.

3 sets of 10-15 reps each shouldn't take anymore than 20 minutes.

I LOOOOOVE pasta.

It has always been my favorite food.

However, pasta is often loaded with fat and carbs.

For a healthier version of my favorite food, I make a few substitutes.

For instance, instead of using Ricotta cheese for this Baked Ziti, I used Low Fat Cottage Cheese.

Original Ricotta Cheese:
1/4 Cup=
100 Calories
8g Fat
4g Carbs
5 g Protein

vs

Low Fat Cottage Cheese:
1/2 Cup=
90 Calories
2.5g Fat
5g Carbs
13g Protein

Not only did we decrease the calories, we also cut out some of the fat....AND we added some extra protein.

Cottage cheese for the win!

Proof that someone is looking to you for motivation:

My youngest son walks into the garage while I'm working out my quads and says:

"Whoa! You can pick up 25 lbs with your feet!"

Me: I'm strong!

E: I'm lucky to have such a strong mother.

Me: Thanks, buddy!

Working out isn't JUST about you. It's about them, too.

It's about showing them how consistency builds strength.

If you can't show up for yourself, show up for the loved ones that are looking to you for guidance.

Do it for the ones that are watching you quietly.

They're not ready to start or share, but they're looking to you for inspiration.

Let them be your motivation.

Happy Weekend, y'all!

Last night I enjoyed dinner and a movie with my mama.

I had a salad with dressing and sauce on the side from the Guiltless Grill menu at Chili's Grill & Bar .

Getting the dressing on the side allows you to control how much you put on your salad and cuts the calories WAY down!

Because I had this for dinner + ate well the rest of the day, I was able to allow myself a small popcorn at the movies.

{We saw EPic, Elvis Presley in Concert, btw...it was PHENOMENAL!}

It is possible to enjoy a night out, as long as you make smart choices.
