1 Peter 2:24

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Dear Heavenly Father:

“I feel your pain” is an oft heard refrain, though we really don’t. We may have walked similar roads, passionately seek to relate with others in their hurt, but we can’t. Our hurts are unique. Our anxieties are exclusive. While none of us can be the next one of us, you have stepped into our skin incarnate and have owned the sins of all of us. By your in-skin suffering, death, and resurrection, we are healed! The one pain we do feel that others have is the one that Jesus gladly takes. Our sins are forgiven. Open our mouths to speak! In Jesus, Amen.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Dear Heavenly Father:

We are surrounded by witnesses, some of whom are quick to affirm and others anxious to condemn. We, too, are witnesses with power for good and evil. Help us to put aside sinful urges and instead with Godly heart encourage others away from evil and toward the perfect peace only available by grace, through faith, in Christ Jesus. Amen!

1 Corinthians 1:18

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who have been saved, it is the power of God.”

Dear Heavenly Father:

The cross of Your Son isn’t something we like to think about, and yet we must. Only there we see your true loving nature. Only there we find the true depth of your amazing power manifested in salvation for sinners and all of it through the suffering and death of your only beloved Son, Jesus, the Lamb of God, who does indeed take away the sins of the world. And for what? For me! Now the peace won on that cross floods believers with eternal joy. Help me to live it and show it today. In Jesus, Amen!

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Dear Heavenly Father:

Your promises are firm, sure, perfect, timeless, total and abiding. Each is built on a foundation of grace given in the suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. All are perfectly applied to me. Thank you, dear Lord, for your love that surrounds me and your mercy that flows from the cross to every sinner who repents and believes. In Jesus, all your promises are good! Amen.

Ephesians 5:15-16

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Dear Heavenly Father:

You give the gift of time and allow us the freedom to parcel it. As with many of your good gifts we can misuse our time by dividing other things into parcels too big, and your things into parcels too small, or not at all. Help us rethink our calendars to enlarge our portions with You! In Jesus, it’s time! Amen.
