In honor of Intergenerational Week and Superhero Day, something special unfolded at Perry Lutheran Homes.

Alongside our Acorns & Oaks preschoolers, we celebrated our “Marvelous April” theme with a hands-on activity full of purpose. The children named their superpowers—Helping, Kindness, or Friendship—and then teamed up with residents to create marble run paintings together.

But the real masterpiece wasn’t just the artwork.

It was the conversations, the encouragement, and the genuine connection that formed as little hands guided and supported older ones. Each piece turned out beautifully unique—just like the relationships being built across generations.

This is what it looks like when love, creativity, and community come together.

Dear Heavenly Father:

This is another day that you give us as a gift to use, however we want. To use it for our good only is to limit its potential. To dedicate it to serving You heaps glory upon you and blesses both those we encounter in love and ourselves. In all of history, you have been praised as the Creator of all things visible and invisible. Still, we often lose sight of the author for His works. Other times we seek proof that you still reign over all that you have made, especially when hopelessness invades our consciousness. There’s something special about seeing the world through a child’s eyes.

To celebrate Global Intergenerational Week, residents from Spring Valley campus and preschoolers from Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy set out together to Blank Park Zoo for a day of exploring and discovery. From wide-eyed wonder at the animals to shared smiles along the paths, it was a beautiful reminder that joy grows when generations come together.

For many, going to a movie is a simple outing. For our residents, it’s something truly special.

With the help of many caring hands, residents recently enjoyed a trip to the Perry Grand 3 Theatres to see Song Sung Blue. The theater quickly filled with singing, swaying, laughter, and a few heartfelt tears as the story of music and memories came to life.

It takes a village to make moments like this possible, and we are so grateful for our team that makes it happen.

A special thank you to the Perry Grand 3 Theaters for graciously accommodating our amazing residents and helping create such a meaningful experience.

Dear Heavenly Father:

You speak to us through your Holy Word, which echoes your majesty through mountain ranges, seabed, solar systems, and nature’s seasons. By the various conditions you use to bring health to our planet, you remind us of your everlasting care for us, each and every one precious in your mind and heart. Your Son, our Lord, Jesus died and rose so that we might have forgiveness of sins and be brought into life together with you forever. More than 50 hearts gathered to celebrate something truly special… our volunteers. ♥

At our Volunteer Appreciation Celebration, we gave thanks for the many faithful volunteers who bring joy, connection, and Christ’s love into the lives of our residents each day. While not everyone could be there, this celebration was for all who serve.

We were honored to recognize two incredible individuals for going above and beyond in their volunteer efforts:
• Caroline Bouvette, our Faithful Servant, known for her compassionate heart, quick wit, and a little ornery spirit that brings smiles to so many.
• Luke Rowe, our Rising Servant, whose big heart and wisdom beyond his years make a lasting impact on residents.

We are so grateful for each and every volunteer who helps carry forward our mission!

Dear Heavenly Father:

Your love is beyond measure, your grace overflowing. We do not measure up to being worthy of your kindness, yet your mercy is infinite and you gladly give Yourself to fill us with Your goodness. Thanks for giving us Your abundance of forgiveness and eternal life, and all through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. With your Holy Spirit, help us measure up to loving You and others today.
