🌟TRIBUTE TUESDAY honoring Ellie Loudermilk🌟
Today, for this Tribute Tuesday, we honor Ellie Loudermilk and her lifelong dedication to preserving the heart and history of Perry, ensuring the city’s story is not forgotten but celebrated and shared.
Ellie has been a devoted steward of Perry’s history. As president of the Perry Area Historical Society and director of the Perry Area Historical Museum, she has helped generations understand and appreciate our city’s story.
With degrees from Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia, Ellie served as a teacher and technology coordinator at Perry High School. She preserved the school’s history through archives, displays, alumni databases, written histories, and tours for reunions.
Her impact stretches across Middle Georgia. Ellie helped establish the Perry Area Historical Museum in 2011, turning it into a cultural hub. She has led historic tours, community presentations, genealogical research, and authored five books documenting Perry’s history.
One of her standout achievements was co-directing the Smithsonian affiliated New Harmonies exhibit, which brought together hundreds of volunteers and musicians and welcomed thousands of visitors from across the country.
Ellie’s work has earned countless honors, including the Governor’s Award for Georgia Humanities, Hometown Hero awards, multiple DAR recognitions, two Seabie Hickson Awards, the Woman of Distinction award, the Award for Local Advocacy, and Perry Business Woman of the Year.
Ellie Loudermilk is a true treasure to Perry. Her leadership, dedication, and love for the community ensure our history is preserved and celebrated for generations.đź’›
