The Middle Georgia Regional Commission (MGRC) offers various aging services to support older adults in living independently and dignified lives. These services include
- Elder Rights and Advocacy:Protecting the rights of older adults through programs like Elder Legal Services and GeorgiaCares, and advocating for additional service options.
- Care Consultation: Providing evidence-based information and coaching services by telephone to empower individuals to understand options, manage care, and make decisions.
- *Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS)*: Offering services like home-delivered meals, senior center meals, homemaker, personal care, and respite care services.
- *Nursing Home Transition*: Assisting and empowering consumers to move from nursing facilities back to their homes.
- *Wellness Program*: Promoting healthy aging through education on nutrition, exercise, and safe medication practices, with programs like Chronic Disease Self-Management and Tai Chi workshops.
- *Senior Centers*: Providing hot meals, social activities, and resources to older adults at 12 centers across the region.
- *Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC)*: Offering a "one-call connection" to aging and disability resources, with skilled intake and screening specialists.
These services aim to support older adults in living independently and safely in their communities.
