Brendan Gatica of Linden, Michigan was born without a fibula — a congenital condition that led to amputation at a young age. In this powerful and heartfelt video, Brendan shares his personal journey growing up with a limb difference and how his love for sports helped shape his confidence and outlook on life. Now a graduating senior in high school, Brendan speaks about the importance of pursuing your passions, staying active, and never letting amputation define your limits.

Also featured are his parents, Leslie and Scott Gatica, who reflect on the emotional day of Brendan’s surgery, the unknowns they faced while raising a child with an amputation, and the overwhelming pride they feel watching him succeed. Like Brendan, they are thankful that he grew up surrounded by acceptance and never experienced bullying.

This story is a reminder of how strength is nurtured through family support, community, and self-belief. Brendan’s resilience is an inspiration to young amputees and their families everywhere.
