IT'S TIP TUESDAY

Today's tip comes from our physical therapist on the difference between a front wheeled walker vs a four wheeled walker and when each one is recommended. When choosing a walker, it is important to consider your lifestyle, physical ability, and specific needs. A physical therapist can recommend the best type of walker for you.

Front-wheeled walker:
• Less stable, not recommended for someone who will need to put more weight on the device
• Front wheels are fixed, forcing small increments of movement when turning
• Collapsable and easier for travel/storage

Four-wheeled walker:
• More stable than front wheeled walkers
• Has options for storage and seating
• Can help users walk faster than standard walkers
• Requires steering and has hand break options
