There’s so many reasons to join us this August for Wise Girl Adventures.

The growth that happens as we hit the trail, play tons of games to let teens be kids, spend downtime to connect with no phones while crafting, listening to music, veg out, and enjoy our Wise Girl Wisdom nights is sure to have your daughter come home a little different than when she came.

More confidence, improved self-esteem, and a gaggle of new friends makes Wise Girl Adventures an opportunity your daughter shouldn’t miss.

For girls entering 8th-9th grades or 10th-11th grades, we’ve got a weekend for her this August.

So grateful for Lexi Curtice coming to share about her career in fundraising and her journey into the not-
for-profit world with our ninth grade Girls In-Service cohort

Lexi inspired our members to think more about traveling. With a degree in Global Studies from UCSB, Lexi traveled to Jerusalem and did extensive work in the Middle East and Africa. She later landed at Girls Who Code and has a fulfilling career helping to grow this not-for-profit business who offers many free programs to girls. This program seeks to close the gender gap in the coding industry as males significantly dominate this field.

Learning about different career paths and being inspired is what our guest speakers aim to provide the Girls In-Service members.

What happens when you come to Wise Girls on day one? You open up opportunities for friendships and growth.

What happens when you keep coming back year after year? Those friendships deepen and the love you have for others and this program develops along with the essential life skills we teach each week.

We are so grateful for the families who see the immense value that comes from showing up week after week and semester after semester.

The 2029 Girls In-Service cohort woke up on a very early Saturday morning to work closely with the community at the Redwood Empire Food Bank.

While many service projects have big impacts, the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s food distribution shifts get our members up close and personal as they hand out food to people in need. This allows our members to really feel the impact.

Greeting the community, respectfully asking where items can be placed, and seeing elders, individuals, and families roll through help our members understand that small acts of kindness can shape someone’s experience. Our members know they have the power to lift someone up in a time of vulnerability and make things better for even just a moment with kind and respectful words and actions.

How we treat others matters. Limiting judgements is essential. Many people are just one step away from needing to step in this line and ask for help.

I’m proud of our members for not just showing up to hand out food but for their willingness to use their empathy and to seek to understand their community in a deep and meaningful way.
