PSA: Some of our volunteers who know their fungi have commented there seems to be more of these very toxic mushrooms popping up around the Bay Area than usual this year, seeming to be extra fond of the weather this year. Very tragically and incredibly sadly, another Bay Area rescue experienced the loss of one of their puppies due to ingesting this mushroom.

Please keep your yard clear of any fungi popping up, and dogs away from mushrooms on hikes. People in foggier areas with more moisture will have a higher likelihood of needing to keep any eye out between rain bouts.

✨ Giving Tuesday means Giving Season at Roxy’s Ranch Haven ✨
Today officially kicks off Giving Season with a month-long fundraising challenge — and we’re inviting our entire community to join us in making a real impact for the dogs who rely on our rescue every single day.

From December 2, 2025 through January 1, 2026, you can fundraise solo or as part of a team, climb our leaderboard, and compete for some fun prizes… all while helping abandoned, injured, fearful, and forgotten dogs get the care and second chances they deserve.

In 2025 we have saved almost 90 dogs from unlucky outcomes in the shelter or on the streets. We’ve learned so much from them and our growing community who has supported every step, and we are so looking forward to adding new faces as word continues to spread.
We are so thankful for the ability to have made the impact we have. We desperately want to help more and expand our rescue capabilities in a responsible and thoughtful way and that requires the donor funding we rely on as a new non-profit rescue.

🐾 Freedom Friday! Meet Our Newest Safe & Loved Dogs 🐾
Every day we celebrate the dogs we save, but we want to use this Freedom Friday to highlight our newest additions who just made it out — dogs who are finally safe, finally loved, and finally getting their chance at forever.

Say hello to this crew:
✨ Harvey – In foster and ready for forever! This sweet, energetic boy would love an active person. A nice hike = his happy place.
✨ Vida – In foster and attending group training twice a week to build confidence. She’s opening up more each week and may already have some interest 👀
✨ Zeke – In foster and truly the sweetest boy. Incredibly affectionate and cat friendly!
✨ Snickerdoodle – In foster after 3 long months in the shelter. Timid, but working hard on confidence and socialization.
✨ Twix – Snickerdoodle’s more outgoing brother! Also in foster and getting great socialization.
✨ Anna (and Indy) – Cattle dog siblings saved in partnership with Redwood Coast Cattle Dog Rescue. Each rescue head is fostering a sibling, and both are available for adoption. These pups survived months in the desert with no help. Their mom still needs rescuing — but first she needs to be safely captured. Anna is with us.

Harvey, Vida, and Zeke were saved from euthanasia at Kern County Animal Services. Snickerdoodle and Twix were saved from euthanasia at Bakersfield City Animal Care Center, and we’re planning to go back for their sister next. Anna and Indy were fighting for their lives in the desert after months without help. Each has a story, and we’ll share them soon. 💛

Joey Has Found His Forever Home! 🐾

Our big, handsome boy Joey has officially found his forever home! For those who have followed his journey, you know his future once seemed so uncertain, he landed on the red list, facing a reality no dog should ever have to endure. But from the moment he arrived at Roxy’s Ranch Haven, Joey was given a chance to heal, to feel safe, and to be loved. He blossomed into the sweetest, calmest, and most loyal companion, a true gentle giant, 110 pounds of pure heart and unwavering affection.

Thanks to everyone who supported, shared, and cheered him on, Joey got the chance every dog deserves and he made the most of it!

Today, he’s in a home where he’s cherished, safe, and surrounded by people who adore him. A big congratulations to Sabrina and her family. Joey is so lucky to have found you, and we know he’s going to bring endless love, joy, and gentle giant cuddles into your home.

Watching Joey finally settle into the love, safety, and comfort he was always meant to have… moments like this are exactly why we do what we do.

Congratulations, Joey. Here’s to soft beds, warm hugs, goofy moments, and a lifetime of love! ✨
