THE BASICS
Working with your breath and self-awareness Scott will help you relax into a state of greater ease and recovery, accessing your natural state of balance. From here your bodies’ inherent ability to heal can assist you in restoring a sustained state of wholeness and wellbeing. As the work progresses, Scott will help you find the place of inner support at your core. Your body will learn and repattern from habits that aren’t working for you, always working in the direction of greater balance. You will be able to sense deeper layers of tension, allowing you to open energetic flow in your body. You may then feel the effects of this flow in the balance of your daily life, and be able to access a more grounded, centered presence when faced with challenges. From this relaxed presence you will also be able to navigate through the resolution of any past challenges remaining in your way.

I Want to Write About Awakening

The kind that brings new awareness, new actions.

Have you ever had this experience? You may have and didn't even notice. It can be subtle.

Something appears within, a new direction, an impulse, often a thought. It's motivating enough that we do something totally new, so a new action arises from this awakened impulse.

I've noticed how this awakening can be embodied. It shows up first as a subtle sensation in one of the major energy centers - head, heart or hara (belly).

It's most common in the head, leading to excited thoughts. It can feel like some kind of flash, the "lightbulb" that switches on. This often leads to speedy action. We may not even notice.

What about when it happens in the heart? This happened to me recently. A moment of opening and softening right under my sternum that felt very fresh, bringing tears to my eyes.

I realized how rarely I give attention to my heart. And how deep this attention can go, bringing me to a sense of awe at whatever I'm present with. This is real life around me, not just a mental movie!

It was memorable enough that I know it has led me to a new action of giving attention here.

Then there's the belly. What's belly awareness like for you?

It may be uncomfortable at first, coming from such a deep, mysterious and visceral part of ourselves.

But there's a kind of knowing in our bellies that can inform where neither head nor heart are concerned - grounded and realistic knowing.

Those gurgles and sensations can be messages that deserve attention. This is how I may know a major purchase isn't right, or feel truly safe with people around me.

The point is to listen from the inside out, to listen to the whole of ourselves. As we heal we open to our fully embodied experience bit by bit, spiraling ever deeper while expanding outward.

A blessing on your spiraling-in-expanding-out journey ~

𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The other day I was working with a client who has worked with me for almost three years. While originally she came due to a history of invasive dental work, her work with me as a specialist in somatics 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁.

Naturally this brought forward the need to 𝗿𝗲-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

Now, at this point in time, she appears happier and more relaxed. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

She sleeps better. She deals with her irritating work conditions from a settled place rather than seeing herself as a victim. She’s more aware of her breath and inner state, and knows now how this helps her when facing stress and challenge.

As we worked a recent appointment on the table in a biodynamic craniosacral session, I noticed how 𝗜 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.

At first I thought this was caused by tension, by some internal holding state. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, that the session wouldn’t be helpful unless the stillness shifted to movement and flow.

But then it became clear this was a kind of stillness we call “dynamic stillness”, 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. And by the end of the session I realized 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

According to her own words, she’s in a transition, an in-between state between what was before and where she’s aiming her life now. Her changes are significant compared with her history.

So how fitting that her session on the table manifested in a long stillness. The space between.

𝗦𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲, ending what was without rushing forward to what’s next.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻, 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹, 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲.

There’s 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀. 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁, 𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹

A lot has been said and written about our subtle bodies. A lot of emphasis has been put on the human aura, chakras, meridians, and other energy systems. 𝗟𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀.

In the process of all these systems being studied and described 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀. Certainly this happened in religious-spiritual communities around the world.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁, as we’ve traveled from source into the manifest shape of our bodies? I once heard a thoughtful indigenous teacher suggest this and 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆, these are one. It’s only that, depending on what frame we hold and look from, there are a succession of levels from most subtle to least as we develop from source to this physical form. And then back again at the end of our physical lives.

And so, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀, a gift through which we can learn to perceive the depths of our being if we choose to slow down and pay attention. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀, the physical structure, the 3 primary energy centers of Hara (belly), Heart and Head. Below this is the Fluid Body, what we biodynamic craniosacral therapists have trained to sense and work through, and Life Force or Spirit.

That’s enough for me.

I find this an interesting conversation and am open to other views. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲?

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀?

Dr Jim Jealous, well-known osteopath, taught that we need to bring the natural world into our awareness during biodynamic craniosacral sessions for clients.

It's an important part of how we bring attention to the Health at work for our clients.

Here I add my own personal, direct experience of connecting with the soil in my new garden.

Its aliveness brings healthy support for all living things that grow here, including the plants that will feed us as well as the pollinating insects and birds living here.

I’m quite interested in reading your comments on how you connect personally and directly with the natural world and how that supports you in your daily life.

How does this happen for you? Or does it? Either way, let me know!

06/05/2025

There is a kind of connection that doesn’t need words.

A connection with other living beings outside of ourselves. Whether that's with plants, animals or human beings, I encourage paying attention to your felt sense of where you're drawn towards other living beings.

Connection is an important part of our health.

Do you see this as well?

Through gentle, intuitive touch and deep listening, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) helps your nervous system settle and restore itself — creating space for ease, safety, and deep restoration.

George Kao is starting a new course next month on advertising through Meta's apps. I plan to be there for an update since Meta keeps confusing me. I highly recommend George's courses since they are not at all about common advertising approaches (high pressure, misleading sales processes, phony price games...). Instead George has studied and researched the power of authentic marketing. To learn more, here's a link:

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀

Despite maybe easy misgivings, it’s worth it to work through our wounds from the past. Otherwise we are restricted from realizing what we most truly seek in our present life. And we have to do this work somatically, through our bodies. For true healing to occur, we can’t skip over this fact.

Healing emerges not from understanding trauma, but from becoming intimate with our embodied truth. This truth is challenging yet a path well worth living.
