Adobe Animal Hospital of Petaluma

Adobe Animal Hospital of Petaluma Call us for an appointment 707-762-PETS (7387) Welcome to our hospital! Keeping your pet happy and comfortable during their visit with us is a priority.

At Adobe Animal Hospital we are dedicated to becoming your trusted partner in providing superior care for your pet. Our skilled and compassionate team is here to help you provide your best friend with a long healthy life. We believe that a gentle, low stress environment goes hand in hand (and hand in paw) with great medical care. We are happy to take extra time and care with anxious or nervous pets (or their people), and always practice proactive pain management. Dr. Yvonne Stemwedel is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, certified in canine and feline practice. Certification by the ABVP requires a long process of additional studies and examination beyond what is normally required of veterinarians. In addition to modern wellness care and progressive medicine, dentistry and surgery, Dr. Stemwedel is an experienced ultrasonographer. She is also certified to perform PennHip evaluations for hip dysplasia, and is a credentialed provider of Vet-Stem regenerative stem cell therapy. We pride ourselves on being cat friendly. While many of our dog friends naturally enjoy visiting Adobe Animal Hospital (it’s a fun car ride and free cookies), our cat friends are generally less enthusiastic. In an effort to change that, we have taken some steps to help make your cat’s visit easier and more enjoyable for both of you. Please give us a call, drop us an email, or come on down and visit. We’re looking forward to meeting you!

BIRD FLU: Keep cats safe! Cats are very susceptible to H5N1, also known as bird or avian flu, but at this time the overall risk for exposure and infection is believed to be low. The virus has ravaged poultry farms, leading to the mass killing of over 150 million birds. Now, it's been detected in dairy cows, cats—even humans.

Signs of H5N1 infection in cats:
⛔ Respiratory problems like coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, trouble breathing
⛔ Lethargy
⛔ Neurological disorders, such as disorientation or trouble walking
⛔ Sudden onset of severe disease or death without prior signs of illness or injury

A recent article in the Press Democrat has brought to our attention that the microchip company ✨Save This Life✨ has gone out of business. This means if your pet is registered with this company, you need to register with an alternative. We do not use these microchips, so if you have a microchip from us, do not worry! If you are unsure what microchip your pet has, we are more than happy to scan them here.
➡️For an alternative microchip registry, we recommend www.petlink.net.
And if your pet needs a microchip (which we definitely encourage), give us a call to make an appointment!

There are a number of risks associated with feeding raw food to your pets. Most recently the presence of H5N1 flu in raw foods.

At least four Oregon cats have been euthanized in the past two months after developing severe symptoms from bird flu.

Comcast has let us know they will be doing updates to the network in our area and to anticipate network outages tomorrow 2/4/25 as early as 6 AM through the end of the day.

We will still be operating business as usual but if you are trying to call and can't get ahold of us you'll know why. We are hoping to still have internet and will be checking emails regularly if you'd like to contact us that way.

Thank you for your understanding,
