Under the tutelage of Bikram Yoga Petaluma’s director, Lynn Whitlow, seasoned instructors lead a foray into flexibility with a schedule geared toward beginner Bikram enthusiasts but that is demanding enough to benefit even the most masterful yogis. Deposit sole-huggers at the shoetree before unfurling cushiony mats and morphing through a series of 26 postures that can flush toxins, promote weight loss, and prepare muscles to shimmy through doggy doors. During each 90-minute class, students will stretch, twist, and bend in high heat, which facilitates muscular malleability and handlebar sweat-staches. Quirky artwork adorns the whimsical studio’s walls, and antimicrobial carpet, which wicks away moisture, blankets the floor. The studio receives a weekly scouring to eliminate grime and round up leftover chakras. Parents can bring their tireless tykes in for childcare during all Wednesday and Saturday classes.

Have you ever wondered about the iconic art and cartoons in our studios, from the postures hanging in the hot room to the larger-than-life panels in our hallways?

This artwork comes from the illustrious Ed Renfro (Jeff’s dad!), a renowned illustrator who was born on December 2, 1924, in Huntington Beach, California. He joined the Army after Pearl Harbor and was a B17 pilot and enjoyed dropping bombs on the N***s. He graduated from UCLA on the GI Bill with an art degree in 1950.

Renfro was a well-known artist who illustrated dozens of children’s books, magazine editorials, did television work, and created billboards and advertising art for companies like Ford motors, IBM computers, RCA, PanAm Airlines, United, the list goes on and on. He also won numerous awards for album covers (remember those?). From Pl***oy magazine, to the Beastie Boys, and our very own Funky Door and Yoga Hell, Ed’s art continues to delight and be hung in yoga studios all over the world
