Exciting News! We've added some extra Prenatal / Postnatal Yoga dates for October and November.

We'll be diving into functional movements that can support your deep core (including the pelvic floor) in pregnancy and postpartum. And shining a specific focus into understanding the lead movement of the diaphragm in pelvic floor health. Even seasoned yogis will learn *a lot* from these focused yoga practices that can be carried on prenatal, postnatal and beyond!

For a woman who gets her period at age 12, starts having some perimenopausal shifts at 45 years old, and lives to 80 years old- this is the percentage breakdown of how long she will spend in each phase of her life. That's right y'all- the MAJORITY of her life is spent in the peri/menopausal window. Yet- it's one of the areas of life where women often get the least amount of support.

Did you know East Asian/Chinese Medicine offers tailored support for systems such as:

➡️ Hot Flashes
➡️ Brain Fog
➡️ Joint Pain
➡️ Heavy Periods
➡️ Mood Swings
➡️ Severe PMS
➡️ Fatigue
➡️ Insomnia
➡️ Vaginal Dryness

The goal of our treatments is to moderate the peri/menopause shift helping manage systems, ensuring the transition is manageable rather than overwhelming and intrusive.

Moreover, acupuncture and herbal remedies can be effectively combined with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to alleviate ongoing symptoms that may persist despite HRT.

We actively collaborate with other healthcare professionals in our community who are committed to providing exceptional and progressive support for individuals navigating peri/post-menopause.

So that became actually perhaps the most pivotal point in, I don't know, the landscape of my life, that dance with despair, that to see how we are called to not run from the discomfort and not run from the grief or the feelings of outrage or even fear, and that if we can be fearless to be with our pain, it turns, it doesn't stay static. It only doesn't change if we refuse to look at it. But when we look at it, when we take it in our hands, when we can just be with it and keep breathing, then it turns, it turns to reveal its other face.

And the other face of our pain for the world is our love for the world, our absolutely inseparable connectedness with all life.

At the Luma Center, clients LOVE our Castor Oil Pack add-on during acupuncture sessions. It’s a fantastic healing tool that helps with so many things like fertility, fibroids, scar tissue from surgeries or C-sections, endometriosis, constipation, and a lot more. Paired with a little abdominal massage after the castor pack has fully warmed up, it is just the best!

Plus, it’s a great way to get to know Castor Packs if you want to do them on your own. We recommend to abstain from using castor packs during certain phases of your menstrual cycle if you're trying to conceive, pregnant or if you're on your period.

Take a look at all the slides to discover more about castor oil!

Looking for a simple but powerful meditation you can do anywhere?

The Microcosmic Orbit Meditation is a foundational practice in Taoist energy cultivation, often used in traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist internal alchemy. It involves circulating energy, or Qi (Chi), through two main energy channels in the body: the Governing Vessel (Du Mai) along the spine and the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai) along the front of the body. Together, these two channels form a circular flow of energy that can be likened to an “orbit,” which is why it’s called the “Microcosmic Orbit.”

Check out our new blog post with more information on this powerful meditation and a FREE 20 min audio track guiding you through it!

We”ll be focusing extra intention and attention in the next few classes on Deep Core Support in Pregnancy (which includes the Pelvic Floor and the Transverse Abdominis Muscles). Even for seasoned yogis, this information isn’t taught in a regular yoga class and is important far beyond pregnancy & postpartum. It’s an opportunity to learn and to experience recruiting these muscles through mindful movement, breath and proper alignment. Just a few spots left for this Sunday! Link to pre-register in the Bio.

Welcome Year of 🐍 Yin Wood Snake 🐍 .

Celebrated across numerous Asian nations, such as Vietnam, China, and Korea, as well as within the Asian communities worldwide, we honor the Lunar New Year tradition and the wisdom it carries.

🐍 In various cultures globally, snakes symbolize renewal and transformation. Their serpentine movements can lead to unexpected disruptions and twists in circumstances, yet they also facilitate profound regeneration and evolution.

🌱 In the realm of Chinese Medicine, the Wood element symbolizes upward and outward energy. It embodies the dynamic force of new beginnings, represented by a sprout triumphantly breaking free from its seed. This energy is characterized by a commitment to justice and kindness, as well as the vision and initiative needed to implement significant changes and ambitious plans.

💧 Yin represents qualities such as receptivity, coolness, darkness, tranquility, and the essence of still waters.

As we find ourselves in the depths of winter, much like seeds nestled in the earth, our vital energy consolidates, allowing us to rebuild the deep reserves that will sustain us throughout the upcoming year. Here are some winter tips for supporting your wellness in this time:

1. Prioritizing rest is essential for replenishing our energy reserves, so if you happen to sleep in, that’s a positive!

2. Savoring numerous warm soups and herbal teas during this season can significantly nourish our bodies. This is especially beneficial if you're recovering from a seasonal cold or flu.

3. Finally, wearing warm clothes is important in winter. Making sure you are in warm socks or slippers, particularly while walking on chilly floors, can help maintain the warmth of our qi, support fertility and menstrual health, and promote uterine wellness.
