The holidays can bring joy, togetherness, and reflection — but they can also highlight concerns families have been quietly carrying all year.

Many families ask us the same question: Should we make a move to assisted living now, or wait until after the holidays?

This article was written for families feeling that quiet knot of worry that often surfaces this time of year — noticing small changes, managing extra stress, and wondering if it’s time to do something more. It walks through the realities families face, from safety and shifting routines to loneliness and caregiver fatigue, and explains why the right support can make a meaningful difference during the season.

Questions? Our team at Spring Oak at Tri-Cities is here to help. Give us a call at 804-861-6977 😊

Families often find themselves asking the same questions every December: “One more holiday at home?” “Should we wait until after the holidays for assisted living?” Or the one we hear most often in January: “We probably shouldn’t have waited.”

It’s fun Friday!!
We started our morning with a healthy session of group exercise, followed by an ornament painting activity, both led by Emili Alexander.
Later we had a turkey raffle for our staff along with a holiday food drive for the Hope Center, and we ended our day by celebrating our November birthdays!

From year to year he drifts alone.
His story only few have known.

About a boy who went to war,
and there he stayed forevermore.

His leathered skin and graying hair,
his tattered clothes and gazing stare,

Standing tall, yet head so low,
he carries scars we'll never know.

So know that our freedom isn't free.
It came from heroes such as he!

What a great time we had celebrating Halloween. We had some very special little friends who stopped by for a Halloween story and Trick or Treating with our residents and staff. We also enjoyed a costumes, mock-tails and BINGO party with Jeremy of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween 🎃
