Functional dynamic movement activity that was highly motivating for both client and Ruby. Client worked on bending forward for transfers, reaching forward, trunk rotation, and more.
Everyone had fun and worked hard.

Balance activities can be so much fun if you just have the right partner. We played a whole new version of “Ring Toss” today in our session. Client and Ruby had a good time together.

FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION- Several of our clients have progressed to performing their rehabilitation out in the community. This means a dynamic environment, unexpected problem solving, managing sensory stimulation, communicating with others, and so much more! We are so proud of our clients accomplishments, the sky is the limit!!
We are thankful for our community partners who are so generous to have us work with them. Those partners are Manna Food Project, New Beginnings, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society and Ken’s Village Market.

Dream it and we will work on it! You have seen this guy here before and look at him progressing. Engaging both arms with the walker, forward lean for walking, upright posture and keeping his eyes on the goal of walking 20+ feet. Stay tuned for more progress captured!!

Have to feed Ruby before starting session. Then on to fishing to work on bilateral coordination, visual attention, balance, and fine motor skills. Playtime is a blast!!!

Stroke Rehab - Can be FUN!! Everyone wants to feed Ruby the Therapy Dog! Client working on shoulder abduction and elbow extension with a carrot held by his pinky finger. Ruby is waiting so patiently as she know the reward is a 🥕, her favorite treat.

This client has a smile on his face and fully motivated to give Ruby her carrot.

This is neuro rehab. It’s hard. It’s frustrating. It’s slower than desired.

But with practice, purposeful engagement, and external focus ….. wonderful neuron growth can happen!!! He went from not able to move his arm to gaining success with placing hand on a bar to pull himself up, stabilize himself so his right hand is available for tasks and can now transfer himself!!!! When he first came to therapy with us he had no arm movement.
