Ready for school? Check those vaccine records. August is National Immunization Month. We encourage all of our patients to remember that vaccines are much safer than the diseases they prevent. Proving that the vaccine caused these side effects is often hard to do. In many cases, children simply develop illnesses around the time they’ve received a vaccine, and the immunizations get blamed unfairly.

We wish you all a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

Remember, fireworks can be dangerous, causing serious burn and eye injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission offers these tips:

-Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
-Young children can suffer injuries from sparklers.
-Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees - hot enough to melt some metals.
-Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse.
-Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
